My friend and I were first responders on 9/12/01, working as civilians for the Red Cross alongside FDNY and NYPD. Nearly two decades later, we offered our testimony to help ensure continued funding by Congress for survivors and/or their families. Ultimately, our cases were picked up by Michael Barasch. I regret to have seen at multiple stages of the administrative process, a huge amount of waste by subcontractors (LHI to name but one). I also regret to not have had the opportunity to meet Michael Barasch in person. However theteo young men from his firm who did make time to see me when I was last in NYC, were impressive in their eloquence as much as by their understanding of the many processes associated with 9/11. signed up about two year ago, I finally got the appointment to see the doctors at governors hospital on sept 30, 2022. i was certified with two conditions after 90 days of waiting ..... barassh law firm filed paperwork for vcf, I tried to request expedite by vcf but they denied it . I dont understand, if the money is sitting in an account, why does it take two years to release it? People are not wealthy. We need it to survive. Michael Barasch brags on radio commercials how he has went many times to washington dc, lobbying on behalf of the world trade center community but he conveniently fails to mention how it can take up to four years or longer to see any compensation. Then his assistant calls me with wrong information. First he tells me that they are making statements from witnessess iron clad so we can show it a lender who can advance money. Then he comes back to me a week later that a lender will not advance any money. Get your act together, dont give people false hope.
