Reviews

I have been using John as a business attorney for 13 years, he is the best.
It has been such a delight and pleasure to work with this law firm and Eric. With him, I've gone through a complicated probate process with international implications, real estate questions, and even with beyond matters like divorce. He's incredibly responsive, I feel like being cared by a real person, and communications are easy to follow even for complex matters. Highly recommended!
Mr. Eric Cruz helped our client with the probate of the estate of his late father. We are very pleased with the prompt communication with us (as the client's tax specialist) and the high-touch care for our clients legal needs. We will highly recommend this firm and Mr. Cruz to everyone that is looking for exceptional legal service.
In preparation for our condo purchase we worked with Eric to review the home purchase contract. He issued a very thorough analysis of the contract, walking us through each section and explaining everything in a way that was easily understandable. Strongly recommended!
We lost my mother-in-law recently, probably at the worst time, having a pandemic in progress and losing another very close member of our family just months before, and with another hanging on needing round the clock care. I was the personal representative per her Will, and had done these duties before years ago with my dad. But still, so many questions. Now, while Mom had worked hard to have all of her affairs in order, and while most of her assets were conveyed via other means (enhanced life estate on house, POD for accounts, separate writing to go with the Will, etc), there was still work to do under Florida Law and a timeline in which to do it. Not to mention, with all my family and I had been going through, it was difficult to sort out while trying to keep everything else going as well as possible. Of course, all the running around that could be required in the middle of pandemic only adds to the stress and aggravation. So I called Bivins and Hemenway, and one of the partners, attorney John Hemenway, agreed to take care of things for me. We had a fairly straightforward consult and John sized up what needed to happen, and how to best proceed. He was up front with fees and a roundabout stimate based on experience. Between he and his paralegal (Erin), within just a couple of months we had all the filings with the courts done properly, and the judge's orders back, and in my case, a Summary Administration complete. I never had to worry about a thing other providing info up front and signing documents along the way. I had to visit the office but one time, and that was drop initial original documents off. All other business was done via email, phone, electronically etc. So I'm pleased with the results I got from this law firm, and highly recommend this one. The service they provided was worth every penny. Advice: whoever you choose, start planning early, and if it is your Estate, I suggest you put some cash aside so your loved one handling your affairs can get professional legal counsel and ease their burden. If you are the personal representative, I suggest save yourself some worry and call an attorney like John Hemenway as soon as possible. I will update my own affairs again in a few years, and will use Bivens & Hemenway. Thanks John and Erin!
