Brownlee Whitlow & Praet, PLLC

Reviews

I have used this company for several years and have always found them very professional in handling our questions and providing sound advice. I find it funny reading some of the comments being made as to charges that are applied on their accounts - this is their business and how they earn their living by providing legal information.
Sean Tropea called me and basically threatened me for trying to stand up for my constitutional rights. The conversation led with him trying to get my address, which I did not give, to him later saying he asked that because he could call my new landlord and say bad things about me. When I started crying and talking about self harm he did not even ask if I was ok. He had a letter from my psychiatrist detailing how I was harmed by his client (he said the note didn’t count because I would have to prove XYZ) Luckily I was able to call and get ahold of my psychiatrist’s office who ensured my safety. This post are all my opinions of course. Just very disappointed at the lack of appreciation for human life and constitutional rights. Luckily my friend in DC who graduated from Harvard Law helped remind me what my rights are.
Called to ask for a balance. Was charged $45 extra for the “return call” and an email with my ‘new’ balance. Petty law firm that will nickel and dime hoa members.
Would give NO stars if I could. Terrible, terrible company, won’t answer their phone, won’t return phone calls. I paid this via cashiers check like requested, the check was cleared by my bank and I also got a return receipt confirmation of which OF COURSE SHE DIDN'T FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and put date and time received. Working with my HOA manager at my subdivision who is still showing a balance due even through the check was sent beginning of Sept and now they are charging me more fees??!!!!! I paid this, my husband talked to the attorney whose name was on the letter and he told my husband we were all good!!! This is a sorry excuse for a company, just terrible!
I would definitely recommend Brownlee, Whitlow, Praet, and File to be used as an HOA law firm. The staff is very courtesy, professional, knowledgeable and very responsive. They handle everything in a timely manner and will always help you out in a bind. They provide great reports and feedback to any questions you have. They know the laws and stay up to date on anything that is pending. They do the majority of our work in North Carolina and I would refer them to anyone who asks. While it's never easy handling collections of accounts, they work very hard and always get the brunt of people not paying their bills on time.
