Attorney Courtney Carpenter prepared us for every step and possible outcome of the process. She doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but tells you what you need to hear so you have realistic expectations. She was both professional and supportive through mediation. We were very pleased with the end result of our case. And a special note of appreciation for Sheree who puts your mind at ease the moment you walk in the door. She is quick to respond to questions and is a pleasure to speak with always. Thank you all for taking care of my daughter.
My only regret was not hiring Zack sooner. No one wants to be in a legal battle, but if you find yourself in need of hero, Zack is the only choice. I have no doubt my case would have been closed in a fraction of the time had I hired him from the beginning. Zack is well connected and respected in Cherokee County. No one could have represented me better. I am hopeful I will never need his services again, but at least now I know exactly where to go to get the representation I need and deserve. I must give an honorable mention to Madeline as well. She is a truly caring professional, and is excellent with communication. Thank you Zack and Madeline for everything.
I worked with Attorney Michael Burns on a first time DUI case. This is an attorney who did not at all put up a good fight in my case. There were defenses he could have chosen to use in my case and simply did not. I constantly had to keep tabs on updates because he and his team would never reach out. There was a great deal they said they would do and it was never done - even to date. I found this firm by Googling DUI defense attorneys, worst decision ever. It seems they pay for advertisements but I recommend looking elsewhere for an attorney. Go with word of mouth and face-to-face consultation only. Also consider Attorney Richard Blevins for a DUI, he does much better work. RESPONSE: Any attorney that would say they "don't have any control," is not the one you want. Good luck!
Mike Burns was fantastic and letting us know what needed to be done for the trial. Help set up the arrangements and gave us options. Completely went as he said it would. The respect that he has from the court and the judge that he is a top-notch attorney made a huge difference. Great lawyer, great person.
I contacted Burns Smith over a weekend in the middle of a divorce case after losing confidence in my previous attorney. I heard back from them quickly and was speaking with an attorney by the end of the day. He listened to my story, asked a few questions, and agreed to take my case. I met with the attorney on Monday and I knew I made the right decision to switch my legal representation. Within two weeks, he was able to schedule a mediation and we reached a settlement agreement. While the timing was important to me because I was as unable to access marital funds, the best part of the representation I received was the careful listening and discernment of my attorney. He advised me to take a slightly different approach given our unique circumstances which will benefit me more financially in the future. Also, I had no desire to make the divorce or mediation nasty by making accusations or threats. I appreciated my attorney’s professional behavior. In contrast, my husband’s attorney (in a room across the hall) was yelling and speaking in negative and damaging ways that were incredibly hurtful. Our 30 year-old daughter attended mediation with me because I have a brain injury. The behavior of the opposing attorney caused long-term damage to already strained relationships. My attorney was able to secure everything I wanted without behaving in spiteful ways or raising his voice once. Now that our divorce is final, I see even more how important it is not to cause additional pain to the people you love during a divorce, especially when it is unnecessary. I have already recommended Burns Smith to friends and I will continue to do so.
