District Attorney'S Office

Apparently this DA office is not in favor of enforcing gun laws in Texas. In October 2016 salvador ortiz jr shot a man down the street from his house in the back and then claimed self defense because he stated he shot the man in his garage while lunging at him and claimed burglary of his detached garage in the back yard . The sheriff dept. Failed to run ortiz's criminal history and find out he was a convicted felon for federal drug trafficking and possession charges and on parole and legally barred from possessing a gun. Today after another detective reviewed the case and the shooting victim trying to file aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession charges, which the detective agreed that ortiz story did not match the forensic and physical evidence, the Kim Oggs office is declining prosecution. Mr ortiz has since assaulted the man with a knife in his car in Pasadena with no prosecution and most recently tried to do so again at a gas station in north houston and is charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief for stabbing out the man's tires. Texas statute states there is no defense to prosecution or justifiable use of deadly force if the actor is legally prohibited from owning a firearm or commits an offense higher than a class c misdemeanor in the act of defense, which illegally possessing a firearm is. There is no defense to a prohibited felon possessing a firearm. The burglary charge was dismissed against the accused man. This DA campaigns as a liberal and for stricter gun control and talks about keeping guns out of the hands of people who are prohibited from possession , yet refuses to enforce the very laws that prevent this and prosecute those offenders. Or at least it seems this is the case when it is a white man shooting a black man in the back. It would seem that black men cannot receive the same justice as white kids in Santa fe.

I'm a survivor of sexual assault & domestic violence. I've tried twice to get a protective order at this location and I was denied twice supposedly due to lack of evidence. I was asked if my rapist had threatened my life... Isn't my story self explanatory?! I was drugged and raped; my ex, his mom and his friend wanted me dead because I didn't want them doing meth & other drugs around the children amoung other issues. The women who sat down with me didn't even take the time to look at my print outs of the harassing texts that my rapist/abuser had been sending me. I felt so let down & hopeless. I wanted to die after being raped & the only reason I'm still here is for my children. There's no way that I'm going to let this monster raise these innocent children into another version of himself. HPD has been even worse, they supposedly cannot give out temp. protective orders. Then I hear stories from other survivors about how they obtained protective orders from this same location with no evidence whatsoever and I'm just so mad at this point that I'm not even going to try and hide it. I'm mad and sad for very valid reasons. QUIT TRYING TO MINIMIZE RAPE & DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Great Leadership! Decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana was the smartest thing to do. It took someone like you to make real change for so many people. It saves peoples jobs, it saves the county money, it frees up the police and jails to be available to stop and lockup the hard criminals. But most importantly your stand for common since also relieved my conscious. Thank You Kim Ogg! Best DA Ever! Romans Ch13

Hey, you know what's a great idea, let's set the bonds for criminals who are breaking into peoples houses and committing other horrible crimes at less than $1,000. Stop doing this and start giving harsher bonds.

I went to Highland Heights Elementary School with Kim Mrs. Ogg in Acres Home. She was such a beautiful smart kid with long silky black hair. My name then was Debbie Cheeves I'm retired also but my granddaughter looked amazed to see what it means to get a good education. She's in the 10th grade at Klein Forest High School making straight A,s and one B... taking AP classes and wants to follow in your footsteps. Now she's being BULLIED by a few others.. It'll her to report it to office and don't worry about it woop them in those books just brush it off and move on. Klein Forest took down the Straight A GPA student list she said because they were getting picked on.. So Kim I am so proud and honored to say that I went to school with her to see with God all things are possible to those who believe. Again Congratulations Debbie Cheeves
