My experience with Drummond & Drummond, Llp, and more specifically associate attorney Matthew K. Simone, was absolutely horrible. I approached the firm for help in a dispute between myself and a property management company that was managing my condo in Portland. Matthew K. Simone was assigned to my engagement and initially pitched a legal position that would challenge the property managers' rights and authorizations but once I signed the engagement letter with Drummond, our position immediately changed to a completely different strategy. Despite my immediate concerns about the pivot, Matthew reassured me this was the best approach. This assurance continued for nearly 6 months until I received a communication that "things have not progressed as he had hoped". Matthew Simone consistently mismanaged my expectations through the entire process telling me one thing, but the reality was something completely different. The net result for me was a massive pile of legal bills yet to be revealed, no assistance from the property manager, and a legal demand letter from my tenants threatening to sue me based on the miscommunications Matthew Simone had with their attorney. I escalated my concerns to Scott E. Herrick, a partner at Drummond. Scott heard my concerns with Matthew Simone, and after my tenants threatened to sue me, Scott's next response was the final bill from his firm to me. I successfully negotiated the final bill with Scott E. Herrick to a reduced amount, but still paid a significant amount of money for a result that was completely avoidable. I would be appalled if the firm and Matthew Simone recommended the same course of action for a similar legal dispute with any potential client in the future as it would be entirely irresponsible and a waste of resources and time. I feel as if I paid for junior associate Matthew Simone to cut his teeth on a legal dispute he had no right representing me for as his lack of experience and skills were clearly evident over the six months I worked with him. I am considering filing a formal complaint with the Maine State Bar Association against Matthew Simone for his miscommunications throughout this engagement that directly led to a negative legal result.
Contacted this office to handle the closing and lease preparations. Very knowledgeable, extremely responsive, efficient. Will do business again with D&D
