I went in with severe pain there were just over 15 people in the lobby waiting which proves the inefficiency of the emergency department of the Holyoke medical center is consistent throughout the years, you could go in there and die and they wouldn’t notice until they called your name. As for the response below, I spoke to at least two people had been waiting for three hours. That in my view isn't emergency care. I am a lifetime resident of Holyoke. The wait time has always been three or more hours for years. It really doesn't matter how great the staff is. If people are suffering and waiting for hours good customer service doesn't matter when people are waiting unnecessarily because change of shift is coming up. Do better. I remember years ago when someone died in the ER due to the waiting time. I thought the idea of a whole new ER was so that service could be provided expeditiously. So I will push back on the idea you take patients by priority. Still the same Holyoke Hospital.
ER wait time is bad. They take you in, than make you wait. I believe to wait in waiting area is better than waiting in room for a doctor to come and see you. Does not make sense even if the doctor says they are busy. Waiting out gives you a chance to go some where else. I hope I will not get sick again. I have been waiting from 10pm in this place. Emergency means we have to get urgent attention. The whole system of hospitals needs to be changed.
I am very disappointed of this Hospital. I went today, Covid positive, feeling horrible and had called in advance due to my worsening symptoms and was told to go to the ER. The Emergency room was EMPTY except for me and my daughter, two hours in waiting for labs to be drawn. I was outright refused a bed, and we were completely ignored by the staff, our questions brushed aside while we waited in the waiting room for anyone to see me. I eventually just got up and left having had no provider see me, no labs done and feeling worse. Absolutely dissatisfied and disappointed over this level of indifference and apathy at this ER.
Nancy is one of the worst receptionists I have come across. The wound care staff is wonderful, but nancy just ruins the experience the moment you walk in the door. I have no idea how someone with such lack of gentleness towards people can be working in a hospital setting. Is HR blind?
I give this only star for the care my daughter received from the most caring of nurses. How this hospital sent my daughter home is beyond me. Thursday night took my daughter into the ER for a gallbladder attack. Said the bile was like sludge and she was constipated 4 days at that time. THEY SENT HER HOME! Here it is 5 days later, still in pain and Still constipated… now we are 9 days constipated. Sit in ER 8 hours. Then they say gallbladder numbers are highly elevated instead of low elevated(whatever that means) and do CT SCAN. Run ekg and every time she stands up her heart drops to 70 for at least 20 seconds. But Since there is no surgery needed THEY SENT HER HOME AGAIN! Said she’s constipated on “paperwork” and sent her home! Like I said, nurses are amazing!!!! But I am now home with a sick child and have no place to help. Disgusting
