I was going through the hiring process here and the expectations for a masters degree for positions at this university that pay $40k a year are not making the case that higher education is worth the investment. How can this university seriously require a MASTERS DEGREE for $40k/year positions for basically clerical/customer service roles? I was considering going back to school, I now see there is no economic case to do so in most instances.
I am a Marquette alum that has been battling brain cancer since 2014 and have two terrible experiences with Marquette. I asked them to help me raise some funds by simply sharing my fundraiser back a few years ago and again recently because my cancer is back and I am in dire need of help. The president and the university did not reply to me either time. They pride themselves on caring about their students and being a Jesuit university, but they don’t truly fulfill either. It is unfortunate that education is all about money these days and that they don’t actually care. The worst part is the current president of the university, Michael Lovell, has experienced cancer himself and they made a huge deal about his experiences.
Save your time and money. Their nursing program is atrocious - so much so that I transferred out of the program to a much more organized and professional institution where I earned my NP.
Marquette offers a great college experience and a fantastic education for well rounded young adults. Marquette is located in a fun city that is going through a healthy revival with a large community of people under 40 deciding to live in the city instead the the burbs. It's a Jesuit school, so the school and students are more conservative than public land-grant universities. We were impressed with the indications of community service, tolerance, and good works that we observed practically everywhere we looked. It was the only school we saw that had postings on their student boards for volunteer work and community service. Marquette also offers deep academic resources. Strong Alumni organization.
Best school ever! I have 2 degrees from Marquette and had such a wonderful learning and growing experience at this fine University. The winters are rough, but the MU teachers and students make up for it. The education is stellar, and I have so many fond memories and fun times at my school!. MU forever....
