I went to Cook School when it first opened starting with Kindergarden in 1939 and finishing 6 th grade in 1946 back in the days when we walked to school including walking home for lunch every day. We had from 11:45-1 pm for lunch. It was during WW ll and gas rationing. Mr. Ernest Peffer was principal and also principal of Maxson and Bryant Svhools. I remember Miss Woods for Kindergarden, Miss Cox, and Miss Reiman, science and math; Miss Laird, social studies and Mrs. Carpenter, language arts and her husband was killed by a sniper in Germany after WW ll. We went to Maxson School for 7 the and 8 th grades and also walked and came home for lunch every day.
The teachers come to work with happy attitude.
Cook School was a wonderful learning experience when I went there back in the 70's. I went there from K-6 grade and we had the best teachers. I will always remember that school as being one of the greatest schools in this country.
