I bill slipped through the cracks during a move 4 years ago. Instead of checking with the company of our current address they bought the dept and filed a warrant. Continuing to send summons and collection notices to an old address. All they needed to do was verify our current address. It’s lazy and unprofessional … these are the type of firms that should be audited yearly on business practices

I was surprised when I received my first ever collection notice in the mail. I never knew I even had a bill from OrthoVa. I have called multiple times to try and resolve it. Madison is rude!!!! So rude! My insurance company is trying to make a payment but they will not accept. I paid them them the portion I was advised to pay by my insurance. They know I am trying to resolve this issue and get this paid but they refuse to place my account on hold while I sort everything out. Madison told me interest is acruing daily. I used to work at a law firm and would have never treated my clients like this. The only pleasant person is Darcelle the receptionist. I can't believe how they handle themselves. 4/29/24. I made a payment and then what did I get in the mail today, a warrant in debt.

Just an FYI, To the Gilliam & Mikula Company, seeing as your staff would not let me bubble this up!!. I paid online over a long weekend. Called 10 am 1st working day. Your staff member rudly said that there was no record of my online pmt, even though I had a confirmation #. AND to add insult to injury, she said your con # that I gave wasn't a part of your system!!!?????? & that I would need to pay again!!. Maybe you need to train your staff, just sayin! My pmt went through, so the # did exist, & was given some bull story that you all dont know what's been paid in your system until it's uploaded. It's time you either trained or hired new staff. I did my part now you do yours... GO TEAM!! ????

Last week I started receiving letters from attorneys trying to represent me for a "warrant in debt" case for medical bills. Though I easily confirmed with my health insurance that if there is an issue it would be fixed and should've been paid, this was still very stressful. Specifically Darcil, legal assistant, was so quick and helpful in figuring out that the case is not even mine, but for another person with the same name. I cannot express how much it meant to me to be able to get clarification quickly. I know debt collectors aren't great but at least this agency was diligent.

Nice receptionist that answers the phone, tries to be very helpful. And I did owe a debt (that I had forgotten about, so that's on me) so not mad about that either. What does upset me is that the attorney that handled my matter (Matthew Mikula) handled it inappropriately. I handle collections, and typically you verify address, send out a 30 day letter, if no response, file a warrant in debt, mail a copy to the respondent and the court has it served, then you have court appearance so respondent can contest if they so choose. On Saturday, 8/26, I received a letter dated 8/23 at my residence notifying me of a judgment obtained 8/16- it didn't give me a case number, a court name, no helpful information. All you have is 10 days to appeal. I had to figure out which court it was in (discovered it was in a county over 2 hours away), called the court on Monday, 8/28 and turns out they posted the WID at a home I sold 3 years ago in yet another county, but because the 10 days to appeal had past, there was not much I could do besides file to void the judgment and start over. Knowing I owed a debt to the provider, even though this law firm really violated the rules of procedure and the court also said it was improper service, I paid the debt and the egregious attorney fees. Just wanted to warn the next person- while the attorney may have gotten the end result they wanted, you shouldn't trust an attorney that is blatant unscrupulous in their methods. When it comes to the law, what is proper and what is just is everything. This was dirty.
