I'm satisfied that I chose Hackard Law to work on my case. All the attorneys on the team are clearly highly experienced, professional, and truly care about their clients. My case was attended to with immediacy and attorneys Mike Hackard and Sarah Cullen reached my desired outcome.
The point person lawyer they assigned me quit without notice at a crucial moment in my trying to get mediation from a very difficult family probate situation, trying to an accounting for a probate inventory of my Dads estate that was 3 years overdue. The firm never informed me by email or letter that my lawyer there handling everything left. I had to find out he was long gone when I did not hear from him in 4 months and called them. They had not ever contacted the lawyer my family member eventually hired to try and work out a mediation . In shock, I found out no actions promised by the firm had happened. Shamed by my response, they had a 30 mn call with that big firm. Then they said we cant do anything, go get another lawyer and we will give you back all your papers in November of that year. The papers never arrived. I called again in January. They forgot to send them and were sitting in a lawyers office who said who would send them. Really incompetent. Every probate lawyer I talked to after said the delays made everything a very big mess and no-one wanted to take it on. Mr Hackard gave a big sell at the first intake consultation, sent me his book with the tactics he never used in my case, and promised an aggressive stance in court. Then they just ate up your retainer right away, mysteriously would not send my monthly billings to see where I was in costs ( they said they had a "software change" to explain 6 months of unreported to me billings , when I specifically asked for monthly statements) and hope to never go to court. When I finally did get a bill, it was more than double what Mr. Hackard said it would cost. I documented it all. To this day 2 ½ years later, I have no idea where that departing lawyer went or why. In the short time I worked with him tho, he actually was quite responsive and industrious with filing a petition at probate asking for an independent fiduciary to do the overdue the estate inventory. But the minute they found out the big firm they were opposing and their immense "respect" they had for the head of this firm ( I suspect they had a conflict of interest and had deals pending with this firm) and one 30 minute call to this attorney 5 months after the fleeing lawyer filed my one and only action, they suddenly had no solutions and said they could do nothing. The complete opposite of what he said at the intake interview and in his book. Finding the firm understaffed and overwhelmed I suspect it simply wasn’t enough money for him to do the right thing and plead my case. A dismaying and dispiriting experience.
Be very careful about hiring this firm, it's not worth the effort. Just because Mike Hackard has had a book published doesn't mean he's a man of integrity. Again, be careful!
