Attorney Trotter was born and raised in Oshkosh. She attended Marquette University where she minored in Social Welfare and Justice and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Marquette University in 2009. During law school, Attorney Trotter served as the President of the Children and Family Law Society from 2007-2009 and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Review in 2008-2009. In addition to working at two private firms in the Milwaukee area during law school, Attorney Trotter interned at the Waukesha County Child Support Agency, Milwaukee County Children’s Court, and the Milwaukee County Small Claims Court.

Immediately after graduating from law school, Attorney Trotter clerked for the First Judicial District of Wisconsin (Milwaukee County), where she conducted extensive research into civil law matters for the circuit court judges. In 2010, she returned to the Fox Valley and joined a private firm in Appleton, Wisconsin where she focused her practice on family law. Additionally, she is certified as a Guardian ad Litem for minor children in family law cases. She continues to practice family law, represents clients in surrogacy matters, and also represents clients in various small claims matters.

Attorney Trotter has been a longtime advocate and volunteer for sexual assault and domestic abuse victim rights both in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley. She continues to volunteer her time at local legal clinics.
