Reviews
The alleged fact patterns presented in the 1-Star rated, dubious review of CPA James Walker, at best undermine the credibility of reviewer Andrew Scott, and at their worst cast doubt upon the business sense of this alleged businessman. WHO, pray tell, retains a CPA 3,000 miles away from where they live/do business (putting the 'disgruntled client' reviewer in either WA or OR), and travels from the northwest US to the southeast US to have a CPA file a few 1099s? Are there no CPAs in the Northwest, West, Central US, or wherever he is, 3,000 miles away? Why would he choose Naples, FL for simple tax services?!? nnI urge any prospective accounting client to PLEASE, contrast the far-fetched 1-star review/tall tale narrative and its allegations, to factual experiences of myself and MANY business clients who've worked with James Walker, CPA for 30 YEARS. Mr. Walker's stellar reputation for knowledge of what's legally permissible and not, his accuracy, and professionalism are beyond reproach. He successfully represented my husband in TWO audits, with NO resulting changes by IRS to Mr. Walker's accurate tax preparation results - hence, we give major kudos to Mr. Walker for his impeccable, accurate accounting/tax filing work that IRS auditors would not alter or change. He has represented me and a number of colleagues (real estate developers, brokers, bankers, equity investors, consultants, etc.) for over 3 decades. nnAs astute professionals and entrepreneurs, none of us would have continued working with him IF he were remotely anything like what was (mis)represented/described in the 1-star review. James Walker, CPA, has most adeptly and adroitly handled personal taxes and business taxes for many entities (including S Corporations, Limited Partnerships, LLCs, sole proprietorships) with EXCEPTIONAL skill, knowledge, and competence. He has advised us on complex tax consequences of prospective transactions, thus saving us much money with his sage advice. Mr. Walker's standards of practice and business ethics are of the highest level, his personal and professional service and responsiveness has been nothing short of only consistently EXCEPTIONAL. Moreover, never, ever has he "overcharged" or misrepresented anything to any one of us, our employees, partners, or numerous business entities. nnWe unequivocally recommend Mr. James "Jimmy" Walker, CPA, for tax services, preparation, and representation (especially in the event one ever has 'issues' with IRS). You will be impressed with his degree of professionalism and refreshingly down-to-earth nature/demeanor. There is nothing pretentious about this gentleman. His intelligence, wit, and intellect are refreshing. He has ALWAYS been responsive, answering our calls immediately or within an hour or two. In over 3 decades representing us individually AND representing our numerous business entities (20+?), he has NEVER demonstrated the kind of behaviors alleged in that 1-star review, which I urge readers/potential clients to merely disregard. Thank you for your time and patience in reading my/our review. I hope readers will give the honorable Mr. James Walker, CPA, an opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities as the consummate tax professional he is.
I am a small business owner. I contacted this accountant to get help with getting my businesses taxes and accounting efficient. I live in another state and contacted this accountant in advance to make sure that he would be able to help me with my issues ? before I spent $700 to fly 3,000 miles, get a hotel, and rent a car to meet with him in his office in person. He assured me he had been in practice for many years and would be the perfect accountant to handle my needs. During our initial consultation, which was originally stated in writing to be free, I was charged $100. He then charged me $300 to file less than a dozen 1099 which is when I started getting suspicious as this was 3x the rate of average accountant. He then tells me that he needs to file an extension and to send him $500 more for him to get started on this. After taking nearly $900, I stopped hearing from him. I thought it best to ask for an invoice of current charges, of which I had to repeatedly ask for for weeks, at which point I think he suspected I was done wasting time with him as he sends me back an invoice basically stating he owed me no money even though he has done no work and that his practice is too busy to help me any further and wishes me the best of luck. Now, after spending a total of $1,600 I have to start all over again for this year's taxes and finding a new accountant. This has been a very time-wasting, over-priced, unprofessional experience. I would not recommend this accountant, his practice, or his services to anyone running a business.
