Good food. The restaurant was the home of Mr moss. Neat to walk around. Large portions. Our waitress was amazing and even told us a little history of the house. Neat place.
The food has been delicious both times I've been here (Nachos before and a giant burrito this time. I'd hoped to try the molé but they were out). I'm not fond of the chips, but I think that's just my personal preference for super thin and crispy tortilla chips. Service was adequate, not amazing. It was pretty busy both times, though, so to be expected. Parking is terrible! There's a tiny lot, but make sure you're prepared to street park if you come during an actual meal time.
This was terrible. Beautiful old building falling apart. This could have been the first clue, but a lot of good places are run down. They charge for chips and salsa. This should have been the first clue. No one does that. (The chips were weird, salsa was okay.) Everything else was bad. Strangely limited and overpriced menu, which the waitress did not seem to know. Asked for water that never came. Margaritas that didn't seem to have any alcohol. I love Mexican food. I eat it a lot. I cook it a lot. If I ever do not clean my plate there is a problem. Nothing was good. Cheese, not cheese and onion, enchilada was stuffed with something akin to Velveeta. Chicken enchilada was stuffed with something like chicken salad. The pork stuff they poured on top of it was initially good, but it had a weird aftertaste to it. Taco was bland and greasy. I asked for a to go box to avoid the server's questions and threw it into the dumpster I parked next to.
Very nice old world cuisine, Mexican food and family-type atmosphere. The food was delicious, however our table was served last among many there and we got there before many served ahead of us. That being said perhaps our food was the type that needed more preparation.
Their website says, groups larger than 25 must make reservations. So I called to make reservations for 30 in 2 weeks. Seems like plenty of time. The "manager" says she would take my info but could not guarantee my reservation. What's the point of a reservation!? She said lately they had not been busy enough to have the staff to handle that many people. I said that was what the 2 weeks was for. She said still couldn't do it, I said so your turning down a guaranteed 400$ to 500$ for your restaurant. She said yes. Little does she know it's much much more, because it is not just this party that won't be there, but no other party I have or family members have will be there. We have been having party's there at least once a year for 30 years.
