TLDR: Mohr IP Law is the real deal. If you’re a solo inventor looking for outstanding professionalism and high quality work, they’re your top choice. The long version: I did my research, and knew I wanted to use Mohr IP Law for my non-provisional patent application. However, I was working on a very tight budget, and wanted to have at least a basic understanding of what I was getting into, so I decided to do a provisional patent application myself, prior to engaging the Mohr team. This gave me the opportunity to dive deep into patent language, drawings, and the general workings of the system, knowing that if I made any serious mistakes in my provisional application, we could simply start from scratch on the non-provisional and I could chalk it all up to experience, and it would only cost me the nominal $65 micro-entity filing fee. What followed was four months down the patent rabbit hole, reading numerous books on the topic and spending countless hours immersed in the excellent resources from the USPTO, while I painstakingly crafted my application. It was a very energy intensive process, learning to think and writing technically in the particular style of patents, but when I got done I had a provisional application that I knew was the best I was personally capable of. I submitted my application to the USPTO. A few months later, I’d saved up enough for the flat rate fee, and engaged Mohr for the non-provisional application. I’ll start off by saying that the professionalism, clarity of communication, and quality of work I received from the Mohr team was outstanding. They were incredibly patient at the outset while I took the time to get the money together and to painstakingly finalize my invention disclosure. There was no pressure or hard selling, just patient support while I took the time I needed to get everything together. Once the necessary content was in their hands, Mohr sprang into action, and had an initial draft ready for my review in under two weeks. From that first draft, I knew I had made the right choice in engaging Joey and team. Joey drew up an exhaustive and impressive set of patent claims that captured the essence of my invention from top to bottom. I had several questions throughout the process, and Joey always took care to answer in great detail, so that I know pros and cons and why’s of every decision, and could make fully informed judgement calls when they were required. When Joey’s final patent draft landed on my desk for review a month after we started the process, I was blown away. I’d spent four months on my initial provisional application, pouring everything I had into it. Being a complete rookie, I wasn’t sure how much of my work would make it into Joey’s final application. I was pleased to discover that Joey was able to use a significant portion of my work, and even more pleased to discover how much farther he took my application. His professional training and experience, attention to detail, technical expertise, and passion for his craft really shone through, resulting in a robust non-provisional application that was able to confidently claim broader protection for my invention than I would have ever felt comfortable drafting myself. I’m very satisfied with the work of Joey and the entire Mohr team, and would highly recommend their services, whether you’re an obsessive do-it-yourselfer like myself, or someone who simply wants to hand off your application to an experienced and competent legal team who will have your back. I haven’t told them yet, but I’m already planning my next application with Mohr IP Law, as I continue on toward my dream of becoming a successful inventor. All the best in your endeavors, fellow inventor!

Mohr Intellectual Property is second to none in their field of business and expertise. They took me through every step of getting my invention patented. When it comes to patent attorneys I trust and highly recommend Mohr IP. They are truly the best firm in Portland and Oregon in general.

I had not filed for a patent in quite some time and needed guidance to get me through the process. On Mohr’s advice we filed a provisional application in September 2021 and followed up a year later with a non provisional application. Turned out that this was the best route allowing us time to refine our invention. We worked mostly with Joey and Stephanie and both were professional, and responsive. We filed our patent application in September 2022 and petitioned for special accelerated examination. They take care of the details, make it look easy and not intimidating. We are now working on new unrelated idea and building a prototype. Looking good so far and if it results continue we will likely require Mohr’s services, again soon. We were pleased with our first experience here and would not think of going anywhere else for patent law in Oregon, at this time.

I have worked with this firm to get two patents, and each time the process has been extremely smooth. I have several other patents that I obtained through different organizations and it did not go as well, so I have multiple points of comparison. I would highly, highly recommend them. They also have very reasonable rates.

Mohr has been fantastic! The communication and customer service really impressed me. I wanted to have them file for a trademark before the first of the year and they were on it. I would happily refer other customers to them.
