There are some people who come into your life who you will always remember -- for better or for worse. Kelly Decker will always be in my "for better" category. I first met Kelly when I was a shell of myself. It was actually a Google review left on here by someone else that made me feel like Kelly would be just the type of person who I needed to represent me during the hardest moment of my life. Who is Kelly? She's someone who showed up for me at mediation directly from the hospital... She went to the gym that morning and had an accident that required stitches, on her head, yet she *still showed up,* negotiated on my behalf, and didn't miss a beat. She asks smart questions. She shares honest truths that can feel hard to swallow, but somehow feels better because it's coming from her. And she's someone who you can trust. I do. And I would recommend her to my closest of friends.

What I knew about Kelly from the beginning even before I signed the contract was that she was experienced, chock full of integrity, and not afraid of a challenge. I had a sense I would need someone like that to represent me. I was/am that dreaded difficult client with the messy case that people advise you to avoid being when you divorce. Kelly tempered my expectations and told me the truth. She did everything she could to attempt to settle at mediation and even after that, yet my case went to trial. As risky as it felt not to settle, the bigger risk for me was not to fight for my young child’s best interest. I hired Marcy Akers Freeman of Kelly Decker Law in 2022 to handle my elderly father's divorce. As with most cases, this one was somewhat complicated and Marcy was the only lawyer out of five that I interviewed, that pointed out important aspects of the case which would ultimately decide whether we moved forward with the divorce. I myself have been through a divorce, so I know there are always frustrating moments, feelings of urgency, a multitude of emotions and feeling "it is just not going fast enough". But I have learned that is just how it is with law, it is a slow process. We decided to move forward with mediation, since there was no movement from the opposing side, and that ultimately is what settled the case. We were very satisfied with how things turned out, both sides were able to move forward financially, and it was fair and equitable under the law. Marcy was always insightful, diligent and compassionate, willing to see through my frustration and offer what can be done to move things forward. She knows the law! I truly felt like she was representing us and fighting for what was just. In addition, her office and support staff were always friendly and timely. Their are no hidden fees with this firm and they are fair with their pricing. Their invoices are detailed and timely. A piece of advice, be involved in your case, do your homework, ask questions, review documents and communicate what you want with your attorney. Ultimately, they work for you and will not make decisions without your approval. And also know, your case is not the only case they are working on :), so patience is key.
