January 2023 5* WMATA is one of the leading transit agencies in the North America. I visited the HQ and learn more about the system. WMATA is doing amazing work and helping communities to move. The office is located next to L’Enfant Station.
Went back to have lunch with former co-workers and get a tour of the new offices. Much more modern than the old Jackson Graham building. The primary colors of the offices and open work areas seem to be mostly white, gray with some wood grain which is in sharp contrast to the old building's original furniture design and colors. It looks a bit sterile to me but I guess that's the trend nowadays in office furniture and colors. I liked the built-in white boards at each workstation, wish we had had these at our desks at Jackson Graham 30 or 40 years ago.
Brand new state of the art building. With ground floor retail. What a difference from what was here before a 1969s office building a a big difference for metro moving its headquarters to this neighborhood. Great addition.
The DC Metro train systems are wonderful. They run on time and the routes were easy to follow even for a visitor like myself. The bad thing is I see so many jumping over the gates without paying and the Metro people doesn't say or do anything. The workers were very helpful giving us directions when asked.
Went to get my senior card, the entrance to the areato get those cards was hidden on a side street across from the VRE tracks. Signage directing you there was minimal. There is a bus stop outside the door. Staff that day was a bit confused, maybe because they were training a new associate. While I got my card a disabled woman was getting quote a run-around to get hers. This is a new location for METRO headquarters. They were just off Judiciary Square south of Chinatown before.
