Teresa is a excellent attorney who advocates for her clients and puts children's best interest above everything. She is diligent, sensitive and socially conscious. I know first hand that she is an ally for under-represented folks (POC, LGBTQ*, immigrant, victims of DV, and many others) caught in the family probate system. A system designed to perpetuate never ending litigation and client bills. Teresa, is highly ethical and quick to respond. She will not overbill you, nor make unrealistic promises. I would highly recommend Teresa. I have referred her to several friends and they have also found her to be helpful.

As a Parent Coordinator, I would not recommend. She doesn’t consider herself a mandated reporter, well.. she is “not sure.” She has direct knowledge of abuse and chooses not to report ( It got reported and upheld btw) She sits back and gets cc’d while post separation, financial, legal, psychological and child abuse takes place. (Data to prove all of this.) she doesn’t support LQBTQ+. She advocates for your children skipping sport/team obligations because “My kids sign up for everything and I don’t make them go.” -Teresa. She doesn’t advocate for devout children who ASK for their religious obligations to be honored at their own Parrish, because “I’m a Roman Catholic and I don’t make my kids go.” She instead suggests they attend a different religious denomination in a different town as a compromise. Basically, she is pro her values and not NEUTRAL to clients’ and their Children’s religious freedoms granted by the Constitution of USA. She is very adept at receiving emails, not reading them, and responding “want to set up a meeting?” to virtually EVERY dispute. This is, in spite of being aware of history of D.V.. It should be noted this circumstance is with a known, documented abuser and his victim whom he continually abuses (???????) and her ??????????????… She is never prepared for ADVANCE NOTICE meetings, nor does she read PERTINENT documents ahead of time. She skims court documents off her computer while on Zoom and ignores fighting clients. In addition Teresa LaVita fans the flames of her “clients,” then conveniently disappears She readily admits this at the start of each and every meeting. She is pro-patriarchy, anti woman and pro-bullying. She sees major trauma/ abuse and massive contempts involving CHILDREN and mothers and does nothing but makes arbitrary “orders” or “directives” or “provisions.” She also readily admits she “isn’t sure” what it is (type of rulung.) Her methods are inconsistent and she will drop an order without client’s signing off on them. Again, with arbitrary regulations. She MISDIRECTS clients with incorrect information, refuses to speak to certain third parties and in spite of what her contract reads makes up rules as she goes and directs her clients to commit contempt based on her hatred of women or ineptitude… looks the same either way. RUN don’t walk far far away from this person. She is unprepared, incompetent, biased and enables abusers abuse. It’s very sad. She also gets snarky, when you ask for the THIRD time to answer ONE of several questions via email. She gets Snarky when she is MISDIRECTING clients enabling felonies against minors and abuse victims (you will see soon ) She wields her “authority”, makes errors then castigates the person ( looks line reactive abuse) Repeat your UNANSWERED question more than three times, only explanation is “The order stands.” Teresa is openly biased to the MALE ABUSER paying her bills. She has answered every utterance and within an hour or two. She DOES NOT work after 5pm or weekends so good luck with that!!! She takes EVERY school vacation off and is UNAVAILABLE… not helpful w custody disputes. Also, she says up front and IN CONTRACT, she will NOT testify unless ordered by court to. She is useless. She is gas on a tire fire and now my children’s lives are affected !!!! You are better off calling Dominoes and then dialing in your abuser. When retainer/positive balance gets used up, she DOES NOT work… which she barely knows how to do anyway so that works well for a financial abuser…. Worst person in the world.

I enthusiastically rate Teresa five stars. She is a top advocate in the Family Court and in our courts of appeal.
