Hired him to help us evict a tenant. Halfway through the eviction, John realized that he knew a relative of the tenant we were evicting so we could move into the home and sided with the tenant. I wished we had fired him when he disclosed that he occasionally wrote articles for this relative's publication as that clearly presented a conflict of interest. Rather than be an aggressive lawyer, he was now on the tenant's side, telling us we had to be understanding of her situation, and rather than conveying what it would cost the tenant for us to take her to court and how it would affect her Section 8 if she received an eviction on her record, he started talking about us paying the tenant for the keys to the house. (It's always amazing to see how people will spend your money without asking you first.) Oh, and the best part, he gave the tenant the check for the keys and then went to check on the house to then tell us that people were STILL MOVING OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!! Like what? You're not supposed to hand the check over until they're out. Anyway, I would not hire him again. We did what we did to be able to get access to the house with the tenant being gone, but overall, if I, as the Home owner hire you, I expect you to WORK FOR ME, not for the person who I am evicting.
