I was already suffering when I turned to this attorney for assistance with my auto injury case. For starters he was unwilling to meet me in person. I should have known then that he didn't have my best interest in mind. Furthermore, he had medical providers that were out of reach for me; as my car was totaled. I spent $20 round trip from Round Rock to my doctors in Austin (per visit). Then, when I realized that he was not the right representative to handle my case, he told me he'd release me to another attorney. When I found a competent attorney to help me, he would not sign a release, but held things up trying to negotiate with them to still collect 1/3. For WHAT? Because of his stalling behavior and actions, the attorney for other parties in the accident filed a request for the full policy benefits; and got it. The $60,000 payout to this settlement should not have gone to one party. Even the insurance company declared that my attorney should have put me in line to receive a settlement. I got nothing but a lot of soft tissue injuries, an ambulance bill, chiropractic and physician care bills, cab fare and medication out-of-pocket expenses that I won't be reimbursed for; plus the hospital filed a lien against me for non-payment. I was hit really by an at-fault pick-up truck driver, and my car was all over the freeway due to the momentum caused by him striking me while traveling at a high rate of speed. While out-of-control, I eventually hit a second vehicle. I was in two collisions, and the other party was struck once & they walk away with all the money??? I'm a certified teacher, who was one class away from finishing my Master's in Education when this accident occurred. Can I work in my profession? No, I can't. My left leg is substantially damaged, and rehab hasn't helped. Other injuries took time, but got better. I've slept in airports, slept in my car; struggled to keep it altogether, and I lost everything I'd worked so hard for (except what would fit in a small suitcase, a bag and my purse). My income and earning capacity was diminished because of this experience. I believe that if an attorney hates you, doesn't care, is prejudice against your race or have any hang-ups preventing them from fairly and justly representing you; they should not take your case. I have no idea why this man took my case. He graduated from UT law school with a degree in jurisprudence in the same year I finished high school. He had the education, decades of experience - I'll NEVER understand why he failed to look out for me. What are injured people supposed to do if Personal Injury attorneys do nothing but make their situation worse?
