Great experience at this law school. It is not true that they favor "devout Catholics." They favor hard work and diligence, because that is what it will take to be successful. They actually do a lot to help struggling students succeed, as well as helping students find placements for internships/externships. If you are choosing this school because you think it will be easier, it won't be. However, I am Christian, not Catholic, and have been impressed with my success. I love how the school emphasizes the Catholic teachings and natural law's place in the legal system. Fides et ratio! Faith and reason are required to be a good attorney, and that is missing from so much of what is being taught in law schools today. I am thankful I chose Ave Maria School of Law!

This is a great school. I see the few bad reviews are not from actual students but lazy people, frustrated by the admissions process. I am a student and I was initially hesitant about attending the school because it is catholic and relatively new for a law school. (20 years) If you are religious (any type) they are great. If you are not religious and just want a good law school they are also great. They don't force any religious classes or work on you at all. Every teacher begins every class with a prayer. Usually just a 15 second 'hail mary' or 'our father'. When they discuss topics they just discuss the law, even with topics like abortion law you would never know the professors personal beliefs or opinions, they are very professional. Its law school so it's incredibly hard from start to finish, but if you can get in, I would recommend attending this school.

I am a graduate of the 2017 class and can honestly say that the school continues to grow and improve every year. The school moved down from Ann Arbor, MI about ten years ago so it's still a relatively young law school in the SWFL area. The move was a big adjustment for the school. But in time and with dedication to their mission, they are making their mark and making the right changes. A great contributor to the school's growing reputation is the quality of graduates who are now practicing attorneys, not only in SWFL, but across the country. I think we have some stellar grads representing our school and I love seeing them excel! Law school is a challenging experience and you develop close friendships during that time that will last you a lifetime. I chose to attend Ave Law because it was conveniently close to home. I am not Catholic but that didn't affect my experience as a student. If anything, the Catholic foundation of the school promotes values that are universal. I felt that those values, tied in with the small campus really created a close-knit community feel. During my time as a law student I had the opportunity to work in the Admissions Department as a work-study student. I really enjoyed not only the people in the department, but the ability to meet with new students and help them navigate what can be an intimidating new chapter in their lives. Overall, the school is small and community oriented. There are professors and administrators that I felt really cared about my success and that made a world of a difference to me! At the end of the day, you have to pick the school that best suits you. ????

In today's world competition is everywhere. Success can be measured on how well you beat out the competition. Like every potential law student out there, we research our options when deciding which school to attend. We compare stats, review commentary, and ask others their thoughts about the schools we are interested in. One of my main focal points when deciding which school I was going to attend, was quality. Ave Maria gives their students that strong, quality education that potential law students should be looking for in schools. The professors have the time and dedication to give their students the proper attention to succeed - you're not just a student ID number. Additionally, the school focuses on continuing good moral values in their students. So when I'm asked why I chose to attend Ave Maria, my answer is simple! I chose Ave Maria because I wanted to graduate from a school that produces quality attorneys.

I'm a current law student in my 3L year. My class started out with a little over 100 students and we still have 84 remaining some will graduate in December and some next May. I chose Ave Maria because it is a small school and I knew it was the right fit for me. The professors at Ave Maria really care about their students. They actually know all of their students names which is unheard of. The professors want to see you succeed and will take the time to sit with you one on one to accomplish that. All of our dean's are outstanding and take time to listen to our concerns. They will meet with you one on one. This law school doesn't see you as just a number or dollar sign they see you as a person. Ave Maria is a private Catholic law school, but there are many students of different religions that attend Ave Maria. This is a law school that doesn't care what religion you are they care about graduating knowledgeable ethical attorney's.
