If you are a lawyer, or family member of one, this organization is selflessly dedicated to helping with substance abuse , all other forms of addiction as well as other mental health issues. Their services are confidential and have touched and saved thousands of lives. My personal experience has convinced me that members of the legal profession, and their families, who face the above mentioned challenges, can truly benefit from calling LCL for help.
This is my favorite professional organization for helping lawyers with their personal lives far and above the other professional and executive organizational groups helping impaired professionals with whom I work and I work several of them including the Physicians Health Program, the National Basketball Association (NBA) Players Association and some groups for pharmacists and nurses in PA. Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers focuses their efforts on helping lawyers anonymously and comprehensively and most importantly is non-punitive. I highly recommend calling them for a consultation if you are in a jam and especially before then if you are considering getting help but worried about how getting help might affect your career. Regarding that though, most organizations, professions and licensing boards are compassionate if you seek help and less forgiving if you get caught abusing alcohol or substances. Most mental health professionals can also be very clear about how confidential they will be able to keep the most delicate and highly sensitive situations.
