I was never served or notified about a court case. And they were able to get a default judgment on a 6yr old debt. I’m pretty sure that is a violation of some type of ethical behavior, so I’ve contacted the BAR Association to determine otherwise.
Early 2021, my student loan was transferred over to Lloyd & Mc Daniel from another law firm.. The balance from the previous law firm was showing $5900 according to my payment history I obtained. They are claiming my balance is $9900. I have attempted to contact Lloyd & McDaniel numerous times via phone and email to get this balance discrepancy resolved. I am unable to get someone to help me out.. I refused to start making payment on a balance that is $4000 more than what I owe. Early 2024, I received a bank levy and had my assets frozen, double the amount they claim I owe, $18500... I'm an living this nightmare with these incompetent people.. I will be hiring an attorney to get this resolved. Unfortunately, the attorney will charge $4000 to take my case. Over a 5900 balance.
Paid my account in full, but couldn't get a receipt or confirmation of payment. They wouldn't give me anything and I was told that they don't do that. The lady said she can connect me to a manager and no one answered. I have yet to speak to anyone. I have never heard of a company especially a law office not be able to provide proof of payment. Now I feel scammed!
Scumbags. Pay your debt in full, they refuse to be satisfied. They want more. Advice: have them send you the original documents on said case. 9/10 the documents arent accurate and or dont actually hold up in court if you're present to defend yourself. They understand that which is why they wont actually hand you court docs, they'll pretend they did just to get a date on the books for you to be a no-show which ultimately gives them the free nod on whatever they want. Fun fact, these rent a center lawyers didnt even pass the bar exam to practice law. It's quite the scheme, do better!
After many emails and voicemails they are still sending mail and officers to my home after I've already sent them a death certificate for my grandfather. No one ever answers the phone or returns my phone call.
