Mcelyea Law

He is the most unprofessional, unethical and immoral professional we have ever seen. For starters, after the initial meeting he follows you to the parking lot and all the way to your car to see what car you are driving. This alone should have been a big red flag for me not to hire him but I made the HUGE mistake of continuing with him as my court dates were close. Besides that apparently his work revolves around his fishing trips so the clients are at best the second on his list to fish. As such in one case he convinced me to postpone because he had to take a deposition, and on the other one he postponed it without informing me which is completely illegal for which I am reporting him to the Bar. Even in the first case he never took the deposition and it was all lies. When we go to the court for the first case I noticed unlike any other lawyer which come to court prepared to present a case with big folders, he just put a blank note pad in front of him, he did not have a clue what the case was. The first thing judge says is that my lawyer had forgotten to pay the fees for the counterclaim and as such not only could we not discuss any matter besides what the plaintiff attorney dictates but also we do not have any claims. One can guess how that went. Based on that I switched to a new lawyer for my second case and as soon as my new lawyer read the contract he filed a dismissal with the court and everything was dismissed fast in a matter of days. This shows that Tom McElyea had not done the very basic task of reading the contract and for months kept charging me for doing nothing while it could have been dealt with just one fast filing, but it was better for him not to do any work and at the same time fund his boat and fishing trips. No doubt that the 5 star review are all bogus and made up.
I just picked up paperwork for my mom that Tom had. Tom dropped the ball a cpl times. On the power attorney my mom had to get Tom to set up. When it was taken to my dad to sign (Tom) McElyea never even though to record the dang sigantaure and ask dad a question he would know and record it for record if anybody question the power attorney. This is a no brainer. Tom did not do it and insurance battled us saying they would not except it. If we would have a recording of my dad signing or answering a question we would have been golden. TOM quit answering my moms phone calls and would text back. He now became to busy and only texted. He also dropped the ball on something else we were waiting for. Mom had to get another attorney to pick up Tom’s slack. I would recommend this gentlemen to anyone. You can tell just by looking at the little weasel he is no bueno and a scammer.
Tom McElyea represented me and from the moment we spoke on the phone, Tom was attentive, sympathetic and on top of my case - asking for all the details and taking note. He was incredibly quick to advise & respond, and every time I reached out, I heard back from him within hours. He was intuitive to sense my distress and would often help calm my nerves when certain issues arose with my case. He was assertive and unyielding to the defendants and their lawyer when I felt weak and uncertain, which made me witness just how hard he was going to fight on my behalf. Mr. McElyea was very matter-of-fact, which I sincerely appreciated and desperately needed. He is definitely a "no-fluff" kind of lawyer - I always had a very realistic understanding of what I could expect, the possibilities of my case (both good and negative) and even an understanding of what the defendant's moves meant. When we ended up entering a settlement agreement, Mr. McElyea was able to secure much more than I originally anticipated, exceeding my expectations. My family, friends, and I are forever grateful to Mr. McElyea. Heaven forbid I should ever need his services again, however, it is truly comforting to know I have him in my corner should another situation arise. I will certainly be referring his services with confidence to anyone I encounter who has experienced abuse/harassment against them, knowing with full confidence they are in good hands. Thank you, Tom, for paving the way for my family, friends and I to close one awful chapter in our lives with justice and peace.
I am extremely happy with Tom’s work on my behalf on my injury litigation. He is working against three different insurance companies were three different lawyers, and is doing a great job of handling the case. I would highly recommend him to anyone who would like to have a bulldog representing them. He is very tenacious and exacting and his response to the lawyers and representing me in my case. Mike Lane
I’ve had the opportunity to seek out Tom’s assistance on two separate occasions over the last few years – one regarding a family law and custody case, and the other pertaining to a corporate compensation and negotiation issue with a previous employer. In both cases, Tom provided superior customer service surrounding three (3) key attributes – quality, time and cost. Moreover, he totally embraced the first rule for any new client . . . active listening in order to gain a full understanding of the client’s legal issues, goals and objectives. Ultimately, the final attribute to Tom’s success, we actually achieved our planned goals and objectives!
