Meadows

Reviews

This is the best ski area close to Portland with a wide variety of terrain. It has easy wide slopes for beginners and crazy steep black for the risky and adventurous. The runs are well groomed. The best powder especially after a snow storm. Everything is great other than being a season pass holder and up with my son. I wanted to sit outside by one of the fire pits while I wait for my son to get down. Would have probably got something to drink. However was turned away because I was not in a large party. Not at all impressed considering there was plenty of open seating. See picture.
Meadows was the first place I ever did any snow recreation, and it definitely made it fun, enjoyable and memorable! They had a great beginner package with incredibly nice and knowledgeable employees to assist me. I took lessons as well, and my instructor Colin Wilson was really patient and great! I loved it and am already planning my next trip to the mountain.
We went here for their New Year's Eve party package and enjoyed night snowboarding from 3pm-midnight! It was quite crowded and busy, but we managed to find a run we liked that was nearly desolate, which was super nice. They had a lift that had a conveyor belt before you sit on the lift chairs, which was really strange. The ballroom carpet was adorable too, it's a complete conveyor belt for beginners, but we didn't go on that. The buffet was delicious, my roommate received a giant slice of prime rib! I swear it was the size of their arm, haha! I really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and the little rice wrapped in banana leaf. The dessert wasn't as extravagant as I remember, but the rest of the evening was great. They shoot off fireworks around 10pm and you can watch them as you ride down the mountain or just take a pause in the snow anywhere you can get a nice view! Would probably go again, just wished it wasn't so crowded.
Mt Hood Meadows is so much more then just a ski area it's a place to create some of the greatest memories you will ever have with family and friends. Add to that the incredible customer service that they provide their guests and the most varied ski terrain in Oregon and you have a world class resort only 60 miles from Portland! With multiple dining areas at the base and on the mountain you can find just the right food for your snow filled excursion.
Good terrain and decent facilities but customer services tends to lack time after time. Lift operators are okay, but overall seems to be under staffed. Lodge can get very overwhelming on busy days. Lift lines could be managed better. I enjoy coming here, but not sure if I will be buying a season pass again next year.
