This "law firm" is very unprofessional. When I was first contacted by Brad Peterson he was upset that I was calling on behalf of someone and it wasn't the account holder himself which I told him I was the handler of our finances and that anything concerning the account would need to go through me and make me the main point of contact. I was trying to be reasonable around our already existing bills such as rent, upcoming vet visits, groceries, my own car payment and tried to reassure him that I would need to budget everything into what I am already paying monthly and he tried to manipulate and guilt trip me into putting this payment first and when I wouldn't back down he got upset that I was putting the payment on the back burner. The "company" has had their "lawyer" send several scare tactics through the mail and had one man show up at my door and we didn't have to sign anything he handed it to us and walked away. I can't recall every word that was said when I called to inform them that their scare tactics weren't working but the lady said that they aren't scare tactics but when I asked why there was no court date on the summons or the other packet that was delivered though the mail she didn't have a straight answer even though she works for a "law firm" and said the stuff we had been receiving weren't scare tactics but couldn't give me an answer as to why there was no court date on them at all. I budgeted everything in and when I called and gave them an updated date to expect payment the person on the other end of the phone was very rude and wouldn't work with me on just putting a note on the file. I told them that I planned it out so I would be paying 3 months worth of payments in 1 month and paying it off in 1 year and tried to get me to up my payment to the larger number and when I told him no he got frustrated with me and asked why and I told him that it gives me a maximum and a minimum to pay monthly in the case something pulls one or both of us out of work such as the death of a family member or hospitalization and he was upset that I was taking anything into consideration I told him that I would be sticking to my original plan and that I just wanted him to put a note on the file and all he wanted to do was argue with me about it so I hung up. A friend of ours that works for the state told us that the paperwork was sketchy and to talk to the fraud department at the bank and the bank couldn't find anything conclusive but after reading most of the reviews I will only be paying the company that accepted the loan request and approved the loan request. I had a bad feeling from the first conversation and I should've trusted my gut from the get go. Overall: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. GO THOUGH YOUR MAIN LOAN OFFICE!!! DON'T GIVE THEM A CENT.
Imagine thinking you’re so special, you don’t have to follow the law at all. A little ironic being lawyers, yeah? Congratulations on taking advantage of someone with a traumatic brain injury, and I hope you’re proud of yourself. Failed to validate this debt, failed to inform me that I was being sued, failed to return multiple phone calls, and failed at being decent human beings. The world would be a much better place without scumbag leeches such as this company.
So I didn't accept the settlement offer, that's on me. But when the papers are served for a garnishment response and I call multiple times in my allotted 3 weeks and you can't pick up the damn phone, that's not a good sign. After I pay off 2 complete garnishments, I receive 2 refund checks, one of which is for $90 and cashes with no problem, and another for $295 that declines everywhere I try, and God forbid they answer the phone or return my calls. I've gotten through to a person one time, and they told me that my "account manager" was busy and would call me back. 2 stars because they did knock off the second garnishment, because it was for the same amount of fees as the first one
Erin Brown, remember that part of collection is dispute, you getting irritated, hostile and intentionally mispronouncing someone name is irresponsible and xenophobia. Why would you mispronounce a name intentionally? its only 2 syllables. Saying that "you were willing to talk until I disputed it" sounds childish and shows lack of knowledge on how collection process works. Why won't someone dispute what they disagree with. This was an international call with wasted minutes. When something does not go your way, stop getting irritated, if you hate the job, you quit.
If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. When they originally had contacted me about my collection I had to wait to start the payments as they did not accept my bank account. I worked with them letting them know I would be opening a new account just to make payments for this and twice they denied my payment on this new account. I contacted the bank and they told me that nobody had even tried taking a payment, but they kept calling insisting that it was my fault and I needed to fix it. This was with Brad Peterson. I contacted another person Jim and he was helpful and let me know that I could make payments online. I went and made my payment, it processed and went through. This law firm is a big joke I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with them! They are rude and stubborn and this makes me think they don't even know that they are actually doing. This is just another way for them to profit off of struggling individuals. I have settled a debt in the past and never have I experienced anything like this. Shame on them..
