Stephane’s professionalism and calm, respectful approach was instrumental in guiding me through an extremely difficult, and emotionally charged divorce. His sound advice and hard work ensured my legal and financial interests were protected throughout the divorce and helped make it possible for me to move forward into a much healthier and happier life.

Mr. Monpremier is the second family lawyer that I have dealt with. His compassion is second to none. He took the time to sort out my complicated situation. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable of family law. Family law can be very sensitive, emotional and draining. He has such an amazing human touch to him and he cares deeply about his clients. I feel like I have a friend on my side, not just a lawyer. Team Monpremier all the way!

My family have been clients of Mr. MonPremier’s for years… In the last four years tragedy has struck three times… I lost my father-in-law in 2017, my mother-in-law and the love of my life in 2019… I have never liked dealing with lawyers as I am sure nobody does. They can be overwhelming and impossible to understand with all the legal jargon. Mr. MonPremier was different… From the very first time I met with him he made me feel “safe”. His friendly warm smile and his very caring nature to my situation made all the difference! He explained procedures to me in very simple understanding terms and guided me through finalizing the estates of both my mother-in-law, my husband and my husband’s company closing processes…. Mr. MonPremier even called off the wolves to keep them at bay during my difficult times. Mr. Mon Premier is a true and honest understanding person. His warmth and understanding of family situations, good or bad is truly amazing! His staff is wonderful and always greet you with a smile! I would recommend Mr. MonPremier to anyone. Not only is he a wonderful lawyer but truly a wonderful person at heart!

I reached out to Maitre Stéphane MonPremier in June of 2016. At that time I was going through a very emotionally difficult and stressful breakup from an 18 year common-law relationship. From our very first meeting together I immediately felt comfortable with this man. Upon listening to my ordeal he showed heartfelt concern and compassion for what I had gone through. He was very honest and upfront as to the hurtles we would face together and the expectations, good or bad, which we might encounter. Over the coming months he dedicated himself to learning all the details of the relationship. Not only is he inquisitive but also a great listener, asking a multitude of questions while all the time taking notes. Maitre MonPremier takes meticulous attention to details. Throughout our meetings together I found him to be a very caring, honest and compassionate individual. He is extremely knowledgeable, when preparing for court he researched previous cases which resembled my situation and was able to make references to these particular cases during the trial. When standing before the judge, Maitre MonPremier was well prepared, confident and professional. He was able to obtain a successful and extremely satisfactory settlement for me. I highly recommend Maitre MonPremier to anyone with family law issues. He is a winner. Merci Maitre MonPremier.

So if you'd asked for my review early on, perhaps 3 or 4 stars. Getting a divorce should be simple and straightforward right? Well only when the person you are divorcing is amicable. Unfortunately, as you may have guessed my situation was anything but. I had offered my insignificant other a fair deal - 50/50 custody and 50/50 on child expenses, split the pensions and RRSPs, house and vehicle assets, and take the difference of what we earn and figure out alimony. We initially went to a "separation" expert who provided advice, and promised to be impartial - however I soon learned that "expert" took sympathy on my ex's sob story (which was not accurate) and tried to get me to agree to an unfair deal - which would have allowed my ex to quit their job and I would have had to pay them for their "current lifestyle" - I would have ended up with about $500/month for myself, which is not sustainable. I saw everything was going to be a fight, and it was. My ex wanted more custody, more money, wanted me to pay the lawyer fees. Never sent paperwork, refused to sign. It was a nightmare. Fortunately I found Monpremier, when I walked in Stephane calmed me down, we took it cool as a cucumber and he prepared me for the "long game". Yes, I was not divorced as soon as I wanted, but in the end it was totally worth it. Not only did we get the 50/50 fair deal, but instead of alimony, my ex and I figure out the amount and transfer that to RESP's so it truly goes towards the kids, and not used by the ex for a new car or whatever. I am sure if I went to a "quick and simple" lawyer for a cheaper lawyer fee, I would be paying tens of thousands more in losing assets and likely unexpected alimony over the next 16-20 years. Worth every penny at the end of the day - in fact what I saved on my pension division was more than what it cost in lawyer fees. (And while the initial bills look high, by the end of the case it was clear he had invested multiple dozens of unbilled hours, so the true "price per hour" is lower than whats on the paper). I highly recommend Monpremier for simple amicable separations/divorces, and rest easy knowing if things turn sideways, they are more than capable of taking it all the way. -ct
