Of Counsel, Ross & Matthews, P.C.

Reviews

I love legal shield. They helped me with some legal documents for my company and most recently with a personal hospital bill. Attorney Richard Brown's background and expertise in insurance really helped me to understand my situation. He was timely and professional on all levels, and with his assistance, my case was fully resolved in the manner I requested. Thank you, Legal Shield!
In so far as I am able to determine, this is a scam to siphon your money through the Legalshield MLM. Paid for several months of 'service' before requesting assistance with a legal name change. Scheduled an appointment, which they promptly missed. Not at all the professionalism I'd expect from someone purporting to be a honest legal representative. Am canceling Legalshield and procuring the services of a real legal counsel. Do not expect Ross & Matthews to be anything resembling the bare modicum of professional in their interactions with you. Especially if they've been 'selected' for you by any of the attorney retention services. Beyond useless.
Sadden to say after having many issues with this firm, I had to let Legal Shield that many attorneys chose to not call back within time. It would take them week to more when 4 hours window has been told. Past year everything is getting blamed on pandemic, it seems to find out many were working through homes, on vacation and often used excuses then actually helping the client which services are paid for to render the help. I have literally left several messages with this firm to have a operational manager to call me to find out and discuss why this continues to happen and attorney fail to call within given time. Yet not once any operational manager had cared to call back to discuss anything. I believe I spoke to someone for one time when they called and attitude came across as what’s the problem. Very prideful. I totally understand that it’s pandemic as many are struggling, they have their battles as we do but doing their jobs if it’s so hard then why did they commit to charge to offer services yet the fail. I do not underhand. At all ? I can understand that many maybe busy and typically calling back within 4 hours it’s not possible, but when attorneys call you back with excuses that they have family, they are working from home, on vacation- then my question is can’t the firm reassign that case to another attorneys. They need to figure out what to do the system they are operating under and why they fail to call back clients within given time. Clients too have issues and have paid fees to retain these services. I’ve been a client for over a decade and had exited out for about 1.5 yrs and has returned back. Man ! It’s sad that no one here truly cares and if you file a complaint against any of them, you will get a call back with the attorney sort of with angry response. I wish they would get their issues together an figure out how to operate this firm correctly without deceitful tactics and actually do their job.
First time in 6 years I needed to use the LegalShield service. Was told by an attorney at Ross & Matthews that under the LegalShield services he'd only review 15 pages of a 40-page document, and that I could pick the "15 most important pages" for him to review. I said that seemed like pretty poor legal advice right from the start, to which he took exception. He said it's referred to a "limited scope engagement," which seems more like an incomplete engagement in the context of a contract review. I was then told, "I am not your lawyer." And then he bowed up and said, "That's what's on the table." I'm not complaining about the page limit (since I now understand that's the LegalShield deal), just about the legal guidance I was being given and the abruptness of the exchange. Given my choice (which I'm not sure I have), I wouldn't use this firm. Be that as it may, my entire LegalShield benefit seems merely a shotgun-marriage with Ross & Matthews arranged courtesy of LegalShield. In retrospect, his "I am not your lawyer" declaration seems quite odd since Legal Shield has on their website a quote from a happy client saying “It just makes sense for me to check with my lawyer before making important decisions that affect my family and business.” So, caveat emptor, neither Ross & Matthews nor LegalShield may deliver what you think they deliver.
TO EVERY READER: SAVE YOUR TIME AND SANITY!! THIS IS NOT A BBB ACCREDITED FIRM! I am not surprised at their low score on other review sites. Actually I'm surprised it's not lower. "Ross and Matthews" are not only tarnishing their own business but they are jeopardizing the brand of "LegalShield". I started my simple and I do mean simple Will May 23rd (Completed July 20th) and after much havoc, typos, never following through with their empty promises of of timelines, uneducated (in my opinion) paralegals to deal with, and let's not forget the one employee that I complained to actually said to me instead of fixing the issue or wanting to investigate it said, and I quote "maybe we're not the right Law Firm for you". Really?!! And me having to hire another attorney (when I saw simple errors that they said we're correct) cost me $100 to confirm what I already knew. So quickly they promised me a short window and that short window became longer and longer until I complained to LegalShield Corporate Office. Soon as corporate office reached out to them amazingly enough, totally a miracle! It was fixed and ready to pick up in 4 hours. You know what they say? If it sounds too good to be true, double check who you're dealing with. Sorry LegalShield, Ross and Matthews earned this one for you. Actually LegalShield after reading all the reviews this really is on you! This has not been an overnight on going issue. You have not held them to the standards you brag about. I love your membership concept. I appreciated how your Corporate Offices took my complaint and took it to task very quickly to "somewhat" resolve it. Still would like to request for the 3rd time the $100 dollars to put back in my pocket that I didn't and shouldn't have had to spend! I might suggest to the senior partners that your employees keep you in the loop or you might get a better pulse point on your lack of customer service and turn around time. It is very unfortunate that I had to cancel my membership because of what transpired at your facility. And since you have not attempted to reimburse the $100 out of my pocket, consider that I invested it to negative advertising that I will continue to promote for you. You're A minus earned you the non-accredited Better Business Bureau score because you do not reach back to resolve your mistakes and indifference with a "So, on to the next, "cha ching" mentality.
