Office Of The Child Attorney

Reviews

We were very disappointed in our case worker. She was not thorough and seemed to rush. We realized afterwards that she was very naive and totally got duped by the other side. She should probably get herself another profession.
I would discourage anyone with any kind of mental health issues to have an OCL assigned to your case. OCL is not there to help conflict in family custody issues but quite the opposite creates more drama. I never got an accommodation for my mental health issues, instead they were mocked and ridiculed. Steer away from OCL if you can and try to resolve issues on your own. Trust me you will thank me for it. Cheers!
The OCL is not a reliable organization to request for custody evaluations. There are articles published about how they increase conflict between two parents, rely on their personal biases and make recommendations that are not in line with the child's wishes or best interests. That is a fact in my case too. Some helpful tools for parents to research are that since there are two types of workers from the OCL, you should find out if they are a lawyer or a registered social worker. Get their resume before they work on your file. If they are a lawyer they are accountable to the Law Society. If they are a registered social worker they are accountable to the OCSWSSW. You can also download the Practice Guidelines from the OCSWWSW for custody evaluations to know it the worker is operating in accordance with the standards of practice. This is important since you will most likely have to dispute their reports because they favored one parent over the other and do not believe in shared parenting. Alternatives to the OCL would be the Child's Advocate or speak to a registered social worker in a trusted community group. You can also have a custody evaluation done by a registered Child Psychologist, registered Child Psychiatrist both of whom have a to maintain a professional standard of accountability to maintain their licenses, whereas the OCL hires people with little to no experience in Family Systems or Attachment pathology, moved from CAS to OCL, have numerous complaints on their licenses, and we rely on them to give courts opinions they are not qualified to give nor have any accountability for.
Don't listen to these criminals
I had the OCL involved in my divorce. They refused to acknowledge that my exwife smoked Marijuana and drank while the children were in her care. As well as the smoking and procuring of Marijuana by way of drugdealer. I also told the investigator, Darya Greengarten, same as above review (interesting) that my exwife, bit me, hit me while she was drunk and high in front of my son who was 2 years old at the time. The reason I didn't go to the police is because my exwife had a high profile position and would of lost her job. When I read Ms Greengarten's report she prepared for the OCL she stated I had hit my wife in front of the children which is a lie. My children were interviewed at my ex's wife house, my house, the school, the daycare and school officials were talked to and the OCL and Ms Greengarten still were unable to prove my exwife was high and drunk most of the time. This individual wrote a truly wicked report in favour of my exwife and then harassed me regarding what medication I was taking and why for what purpose?. Then recommended that they be involved again in determining if I could see my kids on a regular basis. Currently almost 1 year after Ms Darya Greengartens report. Nothing has happened. Nothing changed. When I protested at the meeting with my ex her lawyer and Ms Greegarten, she wrote in the report I was harassing. The OCL eagerly accepted the report without question, every spec of information against me. My exwife looked like an angel and a victim and me as incompetent and a poor father who makes poor judgement. I am speaking to a lawyer to take the matter to human rights. This review stays because of the malice of Ms Greengarten and the office of the OCL. The public has every right to know.
