My father died back in December and we set up a trust through Chris Bray in the preceding years. Chris was great setting up the trust. What he’s not great with is answering questions or helping out the family with trust concerns after a loved one has died. I have no knowledge of trusts and have been trying to file his life insurance claim correctly into the trust since the week he died which will be 3 months on March 11. The jargon is confusing. In these past 3 months, Chris hasn’t returned a single phone call. His staff said they’d help and then never got back to me. My mother went to the office in person saying she’d pay to have the question answered and the clerk said verbatim “it’s not the money, it’s the time.” Too busy to make the time …Very very sad. Not even five minutes to spare. Apparently assisting a grieving family with these complex issues is not a priority to Mr Bray or his staff. It’s disheartening because they were very willing to set up the trust and take my father’s money no problem. Many of the positive reviews here mention how great the service was in setting up their elder law related concerns. None mention the aftermath. Based on my experience, I would not recommend utilizing this office for any elder law concerns. Yes you will get your trust established, however, after all the “sign here , sign here” you will be left up the creek without a paddle. Seek a more professional and empathetic lawyer who actually cares, is willing to help, and who has the basic human decency to return a phone call. When you do business with a client you should be willing to assist, especially in a family’s time of need. Saying “ he’s too busy” is very inappropriate to say to someone who just lost their spouse and father. Good attorneys make time for their clients, especially after a death. The expense of setting up a trust should not come with such poor service, total disregard to the family, and ignorance. My father would be very disappointed having placed both his estate trust and his personal trust in this firms hands.
Highly recommend Attorney Chris Bray. He broke down all the legal speak wonderfully, and is very knowledgeable in giving all our options re. our estate planning.
My father recently used Chris Bray and was extremely impressed with professionalism and knowledge in working through the complexities of handling nursing homes/ medicade applications along with estate planning. Would definitely recommend.
I became involved in my aunt and uncle’s affairs when they were in their early 90’s. It became clear a major change had to be made in their living arrangements and luckily someone in town recommended Chris Bray of Rheinhardt & Bray, P.C. Over a five-year span, Chris has given me and my spouse exceptional legal counsel and guidance on how to support my aunt and uncle. He is extremely personable and has the ability to explain complex legal strategies in a simplified understandable way. For us, this involved finances, will’s, powers of attorney, Medicaid filing, a house sale, nursing home/assisted living advice and so much more. Chris is extremely professional, always accessible, easy to understand, and well-versed in elder law which can be very complicated in NY even down to the county level. I don’t know what I would have done without him. He essentially provided my aunt and uncle the respect and dignity they deserved in their final years while equipping me with the knowledge and tools that I needed to help manage their affairs. Without hesitation, I highly recommend hiring Chris to help with your elder estate planning.
I would highly Chris’ services, he was a tremendous help to us while we’re trying to navigate nursing homes and estate management. Thank you for being there for us. Jim Stevens
