I've know Stephen now for close to 14 years, professionally. He represented me in my child custody case with my son. Most people have mixed feelings at best about attorneys. I've never regretted my choice to use Hosford & Hosford, and will continue to use them until they close their doors. Fair, quick, painless.. and most importantly my favorite thing about Stephen is he properly set my expectations from day one. When you're in a court case about your family you aren't thinking rationally and calmly. Stephen was a steady hand in that process. Guided me, took the time to explain things and was either always 100% correct, or very close when I pressed him to predict outcomes. These are good people and excellent lawyers. I cannot recommend them enough.

Honestly the best experience with a law firm to date, and unfortunately have experience with plenty so that means a lot. Entire staff is extremely friendly and attentive, from when you walk in and speak to the lovely ladies working the front, to getting paperwork done with the extremely knowledgeable paralegals in the back. Both Stephan and John helped me out more than I thought possible, to get my kids back, as well as through my divorce. They are busy, but for a reason - they have a lot to do, and know how to do it. Even being busy, I was still able to speak personally with John more than enough to help me feel comfortable and calm in a tense situation, feeling confident that all of Hosford & Hosford was behind me, doing what needed to be done to prepare paperwork and for the trial so that my children could be safe.

Hosford & Hosford is a professional and dependable law firm. Everyone from the office staff to the lawyers really care about their clients. Valerie Hosford is very thorough and is an amazing trial lawyer. She was able to get my husband sole custody of his daughter, which is not a easy feat for a father in San Luis Obispo county. Valerie truly cared about the outcome of the case and the safety of our child. We highly recommend Hosford & Hosford and we are extremely grateful that God put them in our corner.

Good grief, the negative feedback is enough to make rational individuals' heads spin, definitely give those rational individuals severe headaches. Briefly, a majority of poor legal results reflected in these Google comments emanate from our inabilities to communicate effectively (ask questions...a LOT of 'em, clarify each issue/point several times - 3 to 5 times if necessary, verify several times). I'm sure Stephen felt compelled at times to jump off the end of Avila Beach Pier into severe rip tides after the repetitive questions, clarification and verification laced throughout our numerous conversations. As far as our negative comments, unfortunately Stephen and Valerie are reducing their case loads ("firing" inactive clients, clients whose cases have been settled). THAT is sad. Stephen (and the entire Hosford firm) are efficient, highly knowledgeable and skilled and very effective. Just remember to communicate (questions, clarification X4, verification X4). John represented me through my divorce and subsequent custody/support modification request. I am so thankful for the way he guided me to a positive outcome on both occasions. He was sincere and worked hard to execute my wishes. I really felt like he cared about my situation. Ami and all of the office staff were kind, professional and responsive to my needs.
