My bank and realtor were so amazing and organized that I only had to contact Nicholas Sargent three times. Each time he was dismissive to my questions and concerns plus gave me incorrect information. To complete my experience with him he charged me more than he quoted me and gave me the wrong name for the check needed for my closing that resulted in confusion the day of and delay of three other closings that were based off the closing of my new home. The only reason we were able to close was due to the assistants of the other attorneys. If it was not for my bank representative this closing would have never been done on time.
Mr. Sargent represented me with the purchase of my first home. He assigned a new paralegal to my closing who had no experience and I had nothing but issues from the start. I called and explained to him my issues, he was very rude and said he would now personally handle my home closing which he did not follow through with. Well 3 years later I was in the process of selling and closing on the home and almost could not do so. This was because when he closed my home for me he failed to get a signed judgment affidavit and did not keep any of the correct documentation. When you hire a lawyer you expect to get legal protection and to ensure a safe smooth deal, in this case he did the exact opposite. I would not recommend him to anyone and do not even know how they are in the legal business.
First I’ll start with why I had to dock 1 star: in the beginning of the process of selling our home, the experience with this firm was AWFUL; no proper communication, everything communicated to us was very vague, we didn’t feel well advocated for, and many other things that were not being done properly. However, we were assigned a different paralegal later on, Emily Miller, and SHE WAS FANTASTIC! If it had not been for Emily, this company would have gotten 1 star from me. As soon as Emily took over our account she was incredibly communicative, made sure we were up to date on where everything stood, she worked non-stop to get us to close on our sale and made sure to stay on top of things and on top of pertaining parties to make sure things got done - at one point she even emailed us around 5:30pm, when they close at 5pm, so she went above and beyond. I have a friend who is a paralegal and I know that all too often the attorneys get all the glory while the paralegals are doing the real legwork, so Emily needs to be rewarded because she saved this company’s rating for me - they were about to get 1 star! I would only recommend them if she handles your case, because she actually cares about you and cares about the quality of her work. Give her a raise!
You would have to be a fool to retain this firm for anything except a Kangaroo court. Mr. Sargeant and his employees made.multiple mistakes with our sale, done by proxy and long distance. Ultimately, his firm's oversight was directly responsible for the omission of $1100/of fees payable to us. When contacted about his firms errors, his solution was to deny, blame others, and become pugnacious. The review above about yelling is completely realistic. I have never in my 50 years and dealings with dozens of attorneys, met anyone and unprofessional as Mr. Sargent and his employees. They represent the worst of his chosen profession and the term ambulance chaser is appropriate. We are sorry we hired this firm and suggest, in the strongest possible manner, that you find alternative, more professional, and better representation for your needs. Caveat Emptor. You get what you pay for and this man and his firm are best placed in the discount rack.
This man is rude to say the least! I would never use this attorney to sell or buy a home. He told me I had to pay him almost three hundred dollars to get my abstract back. The definition of being unprofessional is this man. He actually called me a “ wise guy.” Told me I was rude to him when, in fact, I never had actually spoken to him previously. Extremely rude!
