If I could zero stars I would. This business in particular Erica are complete thieves. They stole money from a dead man which is about as low as you can get. My grandfather passed on October 7th. They were (Erika) contacted on the 8th by my brother that he had unfortunately passed. They charged their fee for my grandfathers account on the 3rd of October. So they should’ve only charged his account for technically 5 days. About a week later contacted them and spoke with Erika on more than 2 occasions (I have the phone bills to prove it) so she was well aware of his death. The dates are twice on 10/19, once on 10/20, 11/2 we spoke for over 8 minutes. She even emailed me requesting his will and short letter after that call. In the next weeks she was emailed and had a certified short letter sent to them. In those phone calls his death was discussed every time. How would it not? On the last phone call 11/2 when she asked for his will I grow cautious because it seemed odd. Odd enough to the point I called our lawyer and he agreed she’s asking for things that she does not need. I believe the word choice was strange. So I called Charles Schwab that day and gave them a run down and they recommended that we no longer contact them and they would handle his accounts etc. They were mostly bothered by the fact that they had not reported his death them and it’s been over a month since they we’re informed of his passing. That was alarming. So that’s what we did. Fast forward to 12/14. She’s speaks to another executor and claims magically she’s never knew my grandfather passed. Never got a phone call, email, short letter , or anything and informed that she will be charging there management fee from 10/4 to 12/14. If that’s not dishonest idk what is. Think twice before investing with them and if you have loved ones who currently do I would be advising them to give this place a second thought. This is more about principle than the money. What they did is wrong, denying any knowledge of family members contacting you in every way possible minus a in person meeting to make a couple hundred dollars is wrong.
I very much trust Rodgers and Associates. They work in my best interest and clearly strive to understand and achieve MY financial goals. I'm a tough time consuming customer. Rodgers Assoc always takes time with me and provide solid explanations about account performances. When we meet I never feel manipulated but assured all is being done to maintain MY financial independancy.
I have been very pleased with my relationship with my advisor at Rodgers and Associates. I have had several other advisors in the past. Unlike my previous financial advisors , they are fee only and sign a fiduciary oath putting my best interests first. They put together a comprehensive retirement plan based on my specific goals and situation. We meet on a regular basis to review my financial plan, and I can call at any time for advice. None of my previous advisors were Certified Financial Planners, as is my current advisor. In addition , they take a global approach to my retirement planning needs, which includes efficient tax strategies, estate planning and other non investment related issues like health care insurance and budgeting. If my wife or I don't understand something or have a question he is very patient and takes the time to explain in a way we do understand.
The people here are nice. I had a previous background in finance. Their fees are high. Also, they can show you a poorly designed financial calculator that tells you to liquidate your pensions and roll everything under there management. Disappointed, went in expecting something different. Better than a typical wire house but still just very sales and high fee oriented. This review won't make a difference. But I recommended looking around and finding an honest person who doesn't charge outrageous fees. The do exist. Just not here.
Great company to deal with. Great people as well.
