I had a pair of the Cheltenham boots my wife bought for me many years ago and were of great sentimental value. I took to a couple of cobblers but they both said they could not be repaired. I got in touch with Sanders and the service could not have been better. Gemma and her colleagues kept in regular touch, explained the possible pitfalls, gave great advice and came up trumps. Great company, great service, great shoes! Had to send them back from Austria to UK, DHL wanted to charge customs and tax again, although paid already and mentioned on all documents. Thanks to Gemma and her supporting Emails we could convince DHL that no charges were due anymore. Took some time with the call centers to get the right person who understood the case... I visited the shop at the end of a day's walking around London. My feet are a problem to me and finding shoes which are comfortable for a whole day seems almost impossible. However, nothing was too much trouble for Mr Sanders. He appeared to know what he was talking about and gave me 40 minutes of his time before suggesting some Mephisto shoes, which I bought. To date, 3 weeks on, they remain comfortable and I won't hesitate to return when I want to replace them.

I recently bought a $500 pair of Sanders boots from a retailer in Australia. The first day I wore them, the stitching on the upper came undone. I contacted Sanders in the UK to ask how I would go about getting them fixed (under warranty I would assume) and they replied simply saying that I must have bought the wrong size and I should just try to get them repaired by a local bootmaker at my own expense. -Note that I was measured for fit and the boots fit perfectly. I am astounded at this dismissive treatment and lack of care from a shoemaker that markets itself on tradition and quality. I will not buy again.
