I've written countless reviews over the years, usually for hotels, restaurants and whatnot. But I have never written a review for a person/people or service that has changed our lives in such significant and profound ways. After an eight year struggle with infertility, too many miscarriages to count and one failed adoption, our dream of becoming parents finally came true and it would not have been possible without Shorstein and Kelly. In November 2022, a wonderful and brave young woman reached out to us to adopt our now beautiful five month old daughter. We couldn't have been more excited, or nervous or cautiously optimistic. After a quick search online, we came across Shorstein and Kelly and their many glowing reviews. We reached out to them that day and began what ended up being a terrific experience. Their attorneys, from the partners to the associates, and their support staff, including their paralegal and adoption coordinator were all top notch. They are kind, compassionate and considerate. And now that we have a great relationship with our birth mother, we can attest that she had the same experience. They treated us, and her, with nothing but respect, kindness and understanding. Adoption is not an easy process - not for the birth parents or the adoptive parents. There is so much uncertainty and anxiety but our team at Shorstein and Kelly put us all at ease and made the whole process smooth, seamless and efficient. Important things future birth mothers and adoptive parents should know about them: 1) They are incredibly professional, but not stuffy. They get the job done, but explain everything to you every step of the way. 2) They are efficient, responsive and thoughtful. Our emails were always answered quickly and if the response to a question required more than an email, they were always happy to hop on a call so we could get a full explanation. 3) They know the laws, courts and policies like the back of their hands but have an incredible way of making it digestible and easy to understand. 4) They are by your side every step of the way. I'm not kidding! On the day we were taking our daughter home from the hospital, our attorney, Eric Leb, helped us figure out our stroller (which by the way they were kind enough to allow us to ship from Amazon to their Jax office since we were coming in from NY), and even helped us click the car seat into the car. I know that is oddly specific and not entirely relevant, but it demonstrates that they are people first, attorneys second. 5) If you are out of state, they will work collaboratively with any local attorney or agency required to support your adoption. This was so helpful to us as we were doing an interstate adoption which required us having attorneys in both states. As we enter month six of having our amazing daughter, we can't help but reflect on the long journey to get to this moment and all the wonderful people who made it possible. At the top of that list is Shorstein & Kelly. I know we couldn't have done this without them and will forever be grateful to them for the important role they played in helping us achieve our dream of becoming a family of three. If you are an adoptive family or expectant mother, don't hesitate to reach out to Shorstein & Kelly, even if just for an initial conversation. Hands down the best attorneys in Florida. The office is beautiful and kept clean, they even have a playroom for anyone bringing children into the office. You will not be disappointed if you work with them. They treat you like family, not just another case.
