I recently enlisted the help of “General Contractor” to perform a bathroom/garage conversion on my home. After a month of the contractor stating that he was “waiting on the permitting from the county,” I decided to do research on my own. I then found out that the permitting paperwork was never submitted, and the “contractor” was not licensed, to which he never disclosed this information to me. After requesting for termination of our contract, that was signed almost 2 months prior, I was met with resistance, anger, and threats of legal action. Fortunately, I reached out to T.R. Smith who was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in reviewing the contract that I signed. He was able to demand a full refund of my initial deposit and termination of the contract. T.R.‘s attention to detail and tenacity in doing what is right is like no other. This “contractor” took advantage of me and I’m grateful that T.R. was able to help conclude what could have been drawn out over time with no progress. This could have easily become an extremely unfortunate circumstance for me personally, especially knowing he is not the person who is licensed and insured, as advertised.
