By the time you're looking for legal representation, it's highly likely you're in a stressful position and looking for someone who can help you navigate the situation at hand. If you're looking for a lawyer who will hear you out, provide productive feedback, and ask meaningful questions, SJ might not be the right fit for you... but I hope my situation was not standard practice and just a tough Monday morning. At the recommendation of someone else, I had reached out about a potentially time-sensitive matter. When SJ returned my call it seemed that the process was an inconvenience for her from the start. She was dismissive, made bold assumptions about my situation, and certainly did not create the space for productive or insightful conversation. When I noted she was making bold claims without context, she was quick to interject she had all the context - which is impossible given we had no prior conversation, my voicemail was not detailed, and she was uninterested in learning about the situation or our personal details. Fortunately, I had received recommendations from others for different representation prospects and had reached out to a few parties. I can confidently say that, in my experience, every other party I spoke to was much kinder and more professional than my encounter with SJ.
