By far one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had with a doctor. It was over a year before the pandemic. I was referred to Dr. Morin for a sinus issue. I guess he thought that, because I'm a middle-aged white person who dresses quite professionally (bc of my job), I MUST be a "conservative right-winger" (I'm so NOT. Not that it should matter in a clinical setting, right?). I say this because, throughout the clinical visit, Dr. M made more than one unprofessional quip to me about "Obamacare", President Obama, and how "they (liberals) are all driving medical doctors out of their fields by making it so hard to make a good living these days." And that's actually a pretty tight paraphrase. Pretty much on the nose. I remember it like it was yesterday bc it was so inappropriate to a clinical setting. And what prompted it? Not sure--although I HAD balked at the suggestion that he perform an exploratory surgery, because this was my.initial consult, there hadn't been ANY imaging done yet, my insurance loves to deny coverage, and (this is it:) medical costs are so much higher these days than they used to be. I'm very laid back, but the immediate jump into political comments (that I guess were meant to justify high medical costs?? However THAT works...) made me pretty uncomfortable. FFS, I just went in there to get some insight into what might be causing me a sinus issue, you know? He never did order any imagining, btw, and I never returned. I finally realized, a couple years later, that the sinus issues were clearly related to a dairy allergy I've apparently developed in adulthood--as do MANY people). But these comments--and the ease at which he just dropped them into the conversation (I presume because he assumed I looked like a super-conservative "ally")--were...WEIRD. I'd read that this doctor was nice and funny, but I didn't get to see THAT guy. Instead, I saw what appeared to be a sardonic, typical PWM with socioeconomic axes to grind. Because the comments clearly WEREN'T attempts at humor--although I admit I had to fight hard not to laugh loudly as he denounced liberals for "targeting" doctors and their abilities to earn a living" (Really?? Because I know and work with a LOT of doctors who have multiple vacation homes, so...). Look, I didn't intend to make this REVIEW political any more than I intended to be at the receiving end of an anti-liberal diatribe when I was paying GOOD MONEY to get my sinus problem evaluated by a medical "professional". The irony of someone gladly taking my hard-earned money while simultaneously forcing me to listen to him complaining that he can't make the living he thinks he should be making because of "Obama" is not lost on me. But, more importantly, that experience caused me to doubt the professional recommendations I was being offered. It gave me significant concerns about his motivations for recommending an exploratory surgery (because surgeries are, by their very nature, invasive...you know?) that would not only be expensive for me, out-of-pocket, but also likely provide little diagnostic value that likely couldn't be more easily and safely garnered by the numerous diagnostic imaging alternatives that are pretty much at ANY U.S. practitioner's disposal.. So...yes. Easily one of the most bizarre clinical experiences I've ever had.
I tried several times calling this practice but they put you on hold for atleast 15 or 20min. Bad and inconsede practice of business to me
The team here are great people! Grateful for Dr. Gessler to call after my surgery to check on me it was very appreciated !!! ????
I saw Dr. Scott Morin on 3 August 2021. He was compassionate and friendly with a great sense of humor. He listened to my questions and took his time to explain everything to me. He made me feel very at ease on procedure I had done. The staff was very friendly and professional.
Been seeing ENT for several year and the docs are great. I am beyond happy that they are now working in coordination with Dr. Croteau-Sparks. I’ve seen her for years at Sentara and she’s awesome! 3 excellent docs in one office. You can’t go wrong!
