Neglect and mishandling of my case prompts me to complain to the State Bar. Will update as to the outcome. Lesson learned: Don't gamble on a lawyer with bad reviews, even if he's the only one willing to take your small case. And if you do but inevitably fire him, make certain he acknowledges it with both you and the court so that his appearance at trial doesn't come as a surprise and your own meticulous preparation be torpedoed by counsel's unpreparedness, failure to direct rebuttal and general incompetence.

I have wanted to write this review, but for over five months have given me Laird a chance. He had ONE job, a simple job. He instead waited, and waited and demanded I put together my own discovery and that we attend a log, drawn out final hearing. Long story short...my wife is a diagnosed mental health patient...who gained access to our kids and Mr Laird has failed to even MENTION that to the courts. The results have been months of abuse, lies manipulation and the direct harm of my children. Mr Laird has refused to answer my calls, email or text. He has simply abandoned the case, after neglecting it to the point my 3 and 1 year old sons were harmed, my chance to reconcile my marriage destroyed, and I'm sure heehe me to continue paying for absolutely nothing to happen. He told me he was going to get it done, I gave him two more months and still have not heard a single thing. I wish I could take down this review. I didn't even want to write it...but what happened to me was sickening, and obvious. I can't let anyone else hire an attorney who won't take a stand for them, if ever in my position. There is no excuse for the short comings of a broken system. Mr Laird did not create the broken system. However, he was not willing or capable of standing up to the broken system and securing the safety of my inoccent son's and accountability for the actions of my mentally ill spouse. Just to out into perspective how neglected my case has been...I called me Laird over twenty time the past three weeks. I emailed him even more. He has given absolutely NO response. If he had, this review wouldn't be here now. I hoped for a five star review. I hoped for peace of mind. I hoped for justice. Mr Laird may have secured all three... instead he waited and waited and didn't make any moves at all. If I wanted to secure those thing...I would have had to do it myself. That's all I can say for my experience. If you want to be stonewalled call Richard, if you want to protect your family ...call someone else.

DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY. During my time with this attorney (4 years +) I have seen it all. From forgetting to excuse witnesses out of the court room to having to write and file my own enforcement's, he is minimal help at best. If you want to learn how to become a paralegal, pick up your own paperwork from court, prepare your own cases with no counsel, and worry constantly about why nothing is being done and correctly at that......This is your guy! He will give you a low monthly rate but its completely not worth it when cases drag on for several years and in my situation things got majorly fubared. It cost me more money to work with this attorney than it saved me. TRUST ME. You get what you pay for and with The Laird Law Firm, it was not worth it for me. Read the other reviews. None are good. Keep looking!!!

This attorney was the worst one I ever hired. Remember you get what you pay for. He showed up to court super late and really was unprepared. He is rude and disrespectful. All he cares about is getting paid which is not bad if you complete the mission. He showed up to court and didn't even have the right witness questions and started cursing when I asked him why he didn't have the right ones. He is well past his prime and doesn't remember the details about cases. I had to do my own subpoenas, witness questions, opening statement , and etc. With all that being said he still managed to fail the mission causing me to fire him and hire another attorney which completed the mission. If you care about your family and their well being and justice being served stay away from this attorney.

This guy is way under rated I've used the very best from Jimmy Evan's a super atty ,Eric willie,Karen wang the list goes on and Richard liard has been more effective than all of them combined for a fraction of the cost . He continues to work paying attention to details The only thing I would like to have seen is him object more to hearsay I highly recommend giving him a shot 2 years in a highly volatile divorce and Mr liard is finishing it up strong for me
