Friend lives there, place is awesome, lots of diversity of different cultures living together. Lots to do to swimming, gym, billiards, but the building itself needs some attention, ceilings need work, water damage, outside needs cleaned up some trash an outside building needs a cleaning. Other than that looks awesome. Went to take a swim an loved the pool area nice an warm soothing. My cousin and his girlfriend used to live here long time ago. Ive been here already many times before.

I am a former student. For the first two years I was off campus due to COVID. However, the next two I was on. Two big pros are the campus and the town. To start, the campus is very pretty, and it also offers nice facilities such as the student center and the rec center. Also, students (for the most part) are friendly and that goes for staff too. The town is also great. There are lots of places to eat and hang out downtown, and there are scenic places to walk by the river as well. But there are also two big cons which is why it is not five stars. The first is that this college is ultra-liberal. I am a right leaning to moderate politically, and there were many instances where I was berated by both students and staff for not having similar beliefs politically. I am a Political Science major so discussing politics is pretty much unavoidable for me. Also with COVID they had mandatory testing and if you ever missed testing they could literally give you student conduct violations and even expel you for missing too much testing which I thought was ridiculous. So overall this school for me was okay, but needs many things changed. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FIVE STAR REVIEWS THEY ARE FAKE KENT PROBABLY PAID SOMEONE TO DO IT.

I’ve known faculty here in geology and Geography for many years and recently taught there for two days. The faculty and students are all top notch… I highly encourage a visit or to enroll there. Kent is a very nice community as well and the regional surrounding landscape is beautiful particularly in the fall.

Updated incorrect. Malik ‘s last name is McDonald. This goes out to Assistant Wresting Coach, Malik McDonald. It is long overdue: It was an evening on a Friday night in mid-June when I lost my car in downtown Kent, after forgetting to see where I parked the second time in the evening. After involving the police after I searched for an hour and 40 minutes and they became involved searching via their patrol car as I continued to walk. He over- heard me telling someone my story and insisted on walking until we found my car…….. which was at least an Additional Hour! He is a blessing in disguise; never told me who he was until I prodded, etc. very humble and very, very nice young man .

Wish we had known. Cryptic enrollment process linking to outside websites. Had to phone Kent multiple times, 1/2 hour on hold every time, and even Kent employees were confused. Your username is your email, until it isn't. Fees for everything! Daughter is living on campus and there's a $75 remote learning fee. There is actually a fee to pay your fees by credit/debit card! Fee to join the program she was accepted to. Fee to upload insurance information. $2,000 mandatory meal plan. Surprised there's not an oxygen fee. Many more but I'll stop there for brevity. Wish we had chosen Walsh as they were super helpful. May withdraw after 1st semester and transfer. Be ready for confusion and fees with very little access to help. Edit: now that our daughter is in mid terms: Chemistry is a disaster! Turns out 83% of in-person class is failing. On line is a train wreck. She's never seen the professor. It's only videos followed by quizzes that often don't match the videos. The only people who pass are those who pay for apps to actually teach them chemistry. I was an adjunct professor of math at a local college and watched as administration moved to on line learning and student success plummeted. This is not at all what we expected from Kent. Our girl is demoralized and she's no dummy. She entered as a sophomore due to extra high school classes. This is a way to maximize profit, just like the fees for everything they can think of. Kent is failing my daughter. I think it's time to transfer to a smaller school where students are taught by people, not videos. Edit as of 8/24. Daughter is so discouraged she switched to Business. Math teacher barely speaks English, apparently doesn't know what 3 cubed is, assigns homework that hasn't been covered yet. We've been helping her and are thinking about opening a study chat so we can teach those who need help ourselves. I wish I had something good to say about Kent. Edit again. Parking pass for 1 semester is now $160!! And the spot she could get is a 20 minute walk from her dorm. Or she could park at the stadium and use the bus when it gets there. Great deal in the icy snow. Take a moment to think about $160 to put your car in a space on campus. Then multiply that by the number of students with cars. Someone is getting rich.
