If this woman was appointed to be your GAL for your divorce, I am so sorry! She does NOT listen to you nor care about your children at all. She claims that she does stating things like “I’m here to represent your children & that’s all I care about” but deep down she doesn’t & the approach she takes to her “job” is lazy & is actually very unlawful of her. To keep it short, I had expressed concerns to her about my recovering alcoholic, abusive & narcissistic ex husband & his behaviors in the past, present & probably future unfortunately & inevitably (partially thanks to her). Things that raised concern to me were like my son admitting that he witnessed his dad choking me in a domestic violence incident, my ex husband acting inappropriately towards me at the pickup & drop off exchanges with our kids & for the simple fact that he’s an alcoholic & his past & future actions/behaviors may be contingent on this fact alone - him being an alcoholic & henceforth displaying narcissistic & controlling behaviors. Anytime I had addressed anything from the past, I was hit with “that’s water under the bridge!” We all know that the past can be a precursor for the future. That was something that I always tried to make her aware of but it was never good enough. I made myself look crazy trying to get her to notice things throughout our whole divorce process that would serve as hints to help get us in a better direction, but it never helped. It in turn hindered me & ended up helping my ex husband look more impressionable to her instead. All I wanted was her to see everything all the way through & what was actually fact & what was fiction based off of a chain of events to ultimately put my children in a better position. Valsamas failed as my GAL by seeing someone’s false image in the way that they presented themselves to her in this season of divorce instead of the way that they are outside of her & the way that they are over the course of their life. This is a prime example of not judging off of the contents of one’s character. & so the unfortunate thing here is that this wasn’t just a divorce/paycheck/payout for me, but was at the expense of my children… Hang in there if she’s your GAL. I hope you find peace in knowing first hand that it’s not even “I’m here to represent your children,” but more of “I could really care less what happens to you or your children after this is over with” so you know what to expect.

Very professional, compassionate, strong and alert lawyer. The best lawyer we could of had an experience with. We live in a different state and at beginning worried on how many trips with so many court dates it was going to hit us financially. Amazingly didn’t have to assist any court date and saved us time , money and that horrible scary feeling in a court room.
