Funny I go to leave a review about how rude these people are and there are already other reviewers saying the same thing. My parents sold their house in order to pay off a lien and make good on some debts. Some lady who answers the phones/works here told my parents that they basically couldn't inquire about it because "that's not how it works." She suggested going through the title company. Listen, when you claim someone owes you money and you've taken them to court over it, you answer their own questions. If someone wants to act as their own attorney, you are not qualified to decide they cannot do that. These people are crooks and sit there and act rude to people paying their salaries. The whole process of us selling our house, moving, and then dealing with a fire next door (all in the span of a few months) was a nightmare, and I was taking names the whole time.

What can I say about VF, LLP? They're the worst at responding to emails, answering and/or returning phone calls. What company doesn't put on their payment screen what you've paid and what is owed (like a credit card bill)? This one. They're great at taking your money but just horrible at customer service. Time to contact BBB, too.

The reviews here are hilarious considering Vial Fotheringham defended the HOA when I had to sue them for not fixing the leaks at our condo association. That lawsuit went on for almost 3 years and you're going to laugh at the main line of defense Vial used: poverty. Yup, Vial Fotheringham said the HOA didn't have the money to make the repairs. Find it a little ironic that they *collect* and chase down others for not paying their bills, but can just turn around and use the lack of money as the main defense in another case? That's lawyers for you. The lead attorney (M. Lamb) suddenly disappeared from this law firm in the middle of our case after a major snafu where Vial Fotheringham had a witness who committed perjury and submitted a fake email with an affidavit of authenticity. Vial Fothringham had no real answer for why there were two completely different emails that were purportedly the same, one, email, with them attaching the wrong one to the affidavit, when they had referenced the other. This wasn't just some kind of clerical error. This was inexplicable and according to my attorneys a clear sign of fraud. And, suddenly the attorney vanished without explanation and was gone from the firm. Couple that with Ms. Morgan forgetting that we were coming the day of my scheduled deposition and being unprepared for it... another major snafu that left my attorneys bewildered but smiling. I'm sure these kind of mishaps won't put this firm out of business and they'll continue to be an overpriced collection agency. If I went to law school, I'm not sure that's what I'd want to be remembered for. I'll always remember these folks as the people who made me wait 3 years to get my leaky condo fixed while they said there was no leak and that the HOA had no obligation to fix it (I've got that many times in writing). If you're an owner and are facing these folks in a dispute, beware the things they'll pull. I could write a book on what happened. These are just the highlights.

I'm a manager of an HOA in Tucson, AZ. Personally, I'm not a fan of HOA's, HOA management companies or HOA lawyers. However, the HOA that I manage needs an HOA to take care of the pool and common grounds. Most homeowners pay their assessments but some don't or can't. I do my best to try and work things out with the homeowner. We currently have a handful of homeowners that are behind, but they communicate with me and make payments the best they can. But, we also have homeowners that ignore us even after sending a multitude of statements and letters. That's when we send them to Vial Fotheringham. I work with Marcus Martinez (no relation to me) in the Tempe office. He's fantastic and I highly recommend him. I've never had a problem trying to get a hold of him and he's a very good communicator letting me know the status of our accounts with him. What I also like about this firm is that the HOA isn't paying the legal fees, only the homeowner that is behind on assessments has to pay.
