This management company’s portfolio is exclusively older buildings so experiences likely vary based on the building. I’ve had a great experience in my building. A few simple maintenance requests that were completed in a day or two. The elevator had an issue that was resolved within a week. I lived in “luxury” apartment buildings prior and am having a much better experience here. The walls are more sound proof, the layout is great, Neighbors are all chill, and the price is reasonable. The wall AC and shared laundry work great. Giving up central air and in unit laundry was a sacrifice, but overall worth it! Most importantly, I’m not living in fear of a 20% rent increase at the end of each lease.
trust the one star reviews. the most homophobic, discriminating, unprofessional place i’ve ever lived. RC is cheap and nothing will get properly fixed then she will come for your personal life, stalk you, call your employer, and use it against you. if you work in the cannabis industry, you’ll be accused of being a drug dealer and be kicked out. place is a joke. just go to cornerstone. update: now you are posting false information to this review. if that was the case, you wouldn’t of kicked ME out for working with cannabis. and then you kept my roommate. the property manager stalked all my social media to find a reason to kick me out and called me a drug dealer for being a general manager of a dispensary lol. Constantly misgendered me and deadnamed me. not sure where that is okay in CO. I should have sued lol i worked 13 hour shifts five days a week lol and i was friends with all my neighbors. i was a loyal resident of three years. many neighbors who put in complaints against you to the housing department and HOA when you fixed nothing and allowed homeless people in to say “it’s not my fault their opportunists” - RC CELLAR when all our cars and belongings were stolen. which is why everyone moved out. 2k for a 2 bedroom for what? even my boy Charles tried to vouche for me and you told him word for word you were going off assumptions lol RC is a sorry excuse for a property manager and tried to pay me out with a sorry deposit not to sue. !!! go to cornerstone.!!!!
To say I have no words for Alden Brown would be a lie. This is the perfect place for anyone who’s a fan of absolutely random maintenance men entering your apartment without consent. I recently had a maintenance ticket answered by two men, not employed by Alden Brown and are instead a 3rd party vendor, enter my home without permission, barely fix the issue, and make racist and crude comments directly to me. Upon speaking with the office, I was given no answers. They had no idea who the men who entered my apartment on their directive were. I was asked for physical descriptions, they had no idea who is working for them, who these two men who had keys to my building and my house were. Wendy was empathetic enough and tried to help, but RC was as useless as she’s ever been, condescending and, ultimately, unresponsive. As a single woman who lives far from family in this city, these are not the circumstances I want to live under. I want to feel safe in my home. And I want to be heard when I bring up an issue to the apartment complex. Repeatedly, Alden Brown has claimed to be a family-owned company, but when push comes to shove they have shown time and again that they don’t care for any of the values that come with that claim.
The word that comes most prominently to mind when I think of Alden Brown and my experience renting from them is “slimy.” I thought that renting from a small, family-owned property management company would provide a better, more personable experience. Unfortunately, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. In the past, at other apartments I’ve rented, I have been able to call maintenance to let me back in if I’d locked myself out. This was always free, and just part of the job. My first red flag was the fact that Alden Brown charged a $75 lock out fee, which has now been raised to more than $100. These are some of the most affordable apartments in the neighborhood. This is financially preying upon a population that does not have a lot of financial wiggle room to begin with. Next, the lease states clearly that you are not allowed to sublet your apartment or advertise it if you find yourself needing to move out early. It does, however, state there is a $200 reletting fee. I, naively, thought this was reasonable. I thought great, you give notice, they’ll advertise the apartment, you can pay $200, and since it’s a sought-after location the apartment could be rented quickly if needed with little financial burden. What the lease leaves out: No matter how much notice you give them (I gave more than 60 days), and even if you pay the $200, they will not advertise or show your apartment until after you have moved out and they have turned the apartment. This takes 3-6 weeks, when you will be on the hook for an empty apartment. Because you’re not allowed to sublet or advertise yourself, you are essentially at their mercy and whim. They will not find a renter to move in as soon as possible. They allow renters to sign a lease 30 days out from move-in. This means another 30 days of rent that you are paying for an empty apartment. Frankly, I just think this is a predatory practice and I felt compelled to write this review to provide more transparency to potential renters. At least the larger companies in town are upfront about their lease break fee, which is usually 1-2 month’s rent. The fact that this wasn’t in Alden Brown’s lease is part of why I signed it, but I now realize the lack of transparency was another red flag. At the end of the day, I regret giving this company my time and money and I do not recommend renting from them.
I had the pleasure of living at The Ogden Nines (2 bed 2 bath)! Everyone has an opinion so Ill be brief. My experience was wonderful renting with Alden Brown & Co. - Fantastic and responsive property management staff. - Great unit maintenance request response times. - Very clear and transparent communications regarding scheduled building maintenances. - Monetary compensations for significant utility outages or disruptions to day-to-day life.
