I had a one hour consult with an attorney here and it was extremely useful. She answered all my questions and went through my documents carefully with me to ensure everything was correct. She patiently answered all my questions and provided insights that I would not have been able to discover on my own. Well worth the time and money.

I had the pleasure of first having a consultation with Tali, who is very knowledgeable and offered me very good advice in regards to my particular situation, she also suggested I try to work it out on my own first and that if I end up hitting a brick wall that they would be more than willing to step in and represent me in order to hopefully have a better chance at reaching a settlement. Divorce is an isolating horrible experience. It is physically draining; emotionally distressing; psychologically debilitating; and can be spiritually defeating. Especially, when it’s not what you want. The separation of a couple that were once inseparable can be compared to getting gum on carpet. When this happens, and one attempts to disjoin the gum from the carpet, it is inevitable that some gum will remain on the carpet and vice versa. If your marriage is in crisis, rather than entertain modern forms of conventional wisdom about marriage, stay together. However, if divorce is imminent, do not attempt divorce proceedings alone. As a Black American man of African descent, the task of finding quality representation is tremendously difficult. The legal system is flooded with judges and divorce attorneys that possess the power to enforce or reinforce stereotypes surrounding black men that forge a negative and legally-binding perception of us in society. This in turn makes us the oppressed subjects of a ruinous anti-Black superstructure that disenfranchises even a black family man regardless of his level of integrity. The origin and intent behind this socially engineered superstructure of oppression varies, but is nevertheless inescapable. However, what personal experience has taught me is, it is hard to persuade anyone of anything positive about a black man when they have internalized a systemic prejudice against black men (which is fundamentally a deficit-based perspective on the whole black race) regardless of our character qualities. Therefore, a black man’s integrity is presupposed to be a non-factor. Our character qualities are then systemically ignored. This is in fact systematic oppression executed in order to perpetuate a racial caste system. Invariably, but fundamentally designed to oppress Black American families of African descent for centuries to come. Engaging a lawyer to help you decide your options and develop a strategy to navigate you through these realities if you’ve reached this point is best in my opinion.
