I can only comment on the events rentals that take place at the Providence City Hall, specifically the elopements in the Alderman Chambers. I've photographed three here so far and I can never get enough of how beautiful it is. I try to suggest it to my couples who are looking for a location all the time!
This island is full of fun! I really love to spend some long weekends here.
This is CITY HALL! If the doors are open, then people should be serviced! Not told "Oh, can't help you because I gotta go home" Useless trash
DMV is a sad state of affairs. I find it highly offensive my family member's driver's license renewal was revoked due to a blocked insurance issue on her vehicle that she has clearly not owned in 2-3 years. "Guilty until proven innocent, really?" Jumping through hoops to get this corrected. Shame on you for not having a better system. $252 fine! Really? Because she was told NOT to turn in her plates by a DMV employee, she has to go without a license until the very first available appointment in 7 days in South County and she lives in Providence County. There is no common sense to the process. Shame on the State of Rhode Island's highly disfuctional registry.
For the most part this place is OK. Some of the employees actually care about their job and go above and beyond, while some have the "I got a city job so FTW!" attitude and it shows. The building itself is a beautiful building. Parking sucks here. Most on street parking is reserves or permit parking. Actual public spots are tough to come by. There are parking garages nearby but charge around 10 bucks to park. One of my biggest gripes is around back the employees take it upon themselves to park on the sidewalk. One employee even blocking the clearly marked handicapped entrance. There are fire zone signs along the wall but these employees apparently are special and as such exempt.
