David Burge is a skilled attorney; why am I only providing 2 stars? Let me explain.nnI am an entrepreneur, small business owner of one employee (myself) I have produced two major products, one of them I approached David to help patent the product. nnHe was pleasant to meet with and understood what the product was and took careful consideration to go above and beyond for my patent. Awesome!nnNow here's where I get a little salty. David was clear on how much this process was going to cost with added expenses and unforeseen patent office fees etc. accounted for. We went a little over expected, which was fine, that was somewhat expected, we had discussed this possibilitynNo problem.nnWhat David failed to do as a professional is to have flexibility on issue essentially caused by him. 6 months of interim and little communication: the expected waiting for the patent to clear... and in comes a whopping $800 bill, OK, wow! (The patent has not cleared mind you) nnI talk to David and told him politely that I would not be able to pay this on the date requested and would have to get this taken care at a later date, due to that funds were planned according to his recommendations and instructions! I was told 'that's fine.'nnI received a second letter about a month later giving me the ultimatum to pay by this very impending date during my most fiscal tight spot in years (which he was aware of, as I gave him the reasons why before)nnAs a professional David should have taken the hit and continued to get the patent to finish up, my payment record has been %100 on time for almost 2 years, and prompt up to this point because we had planned for it. That's enough of a track record to give benefit of the doubt.nnInstead of taking a minor hit and winning over a client, he decided to drop services and leave all my money invested in limbo, essentially dropping me as a client and telling me to go elsewhere!nnLet me say as a small business owner you should not go to David, as his sympathies seem to stretch as far as your wallet will go. I had never been late on a payment nor refused to pay any fees because they were what was relayed to me since the beginning, I would think someone of David's knowledge would know by now what the average costs involved would be. He works coldly and does not think in 'the little guy's shoes'. nnIt has never been easy to operate your own business, but I have been doing this mildly successfully for 5 years, and being in the little guy position gives you some insight in how today's capitalism works: it's cruel and cold, and David has embodied it.nnUpset client: I will never work with, nor recommend David again.
