If your child died due to the Family Court System and DCFS these men will not help you. My son is dead due to the negligence and documented lies of DCFS. Jay Paul Deratany is a nasty little man who strung me along for a year and wasted my time. He didn’t go to bat for me or my son, he never read the DCFS records nor did he suggest a second autopsy. The only thing he did do was help to make sure my forensic pathologist that I got and paid for could look at organs at the Cook County Medical Center, despite her being entitled to view them on her own. His partner Mike Kostner is full of empty promises and rude treatment. There was a gentleman on the case who was willing to fight for my son but strangely enough he disappeared and Jay took over. I recently called them only to learn from their assistant that there is only a skeleton file with one email. They deleted mine and my sons entire file which I was also told by their assistant is not the standard. I have Jay on record saying my sons death is because of the Judge and that the Judge made a mistake so maybe Jay was unwilling to fight due to the fact at one time he was attempting to run for a Cook County Judge position. Who Knows? Regardless unless you want to be swindled by a charlatan snake oils salesman I would not go with this firm.

Was referred to the law firm and attorney Greg Olmstead followed up with me. He was very responsive, so I told other attorneys that I was already moving forward with this firm. After the first call and email, I was ghosted. I just wish the attorney had the decency to send a quick case rejection reply. I sent follow-up emails, as my reference suggested, and I just feel silly for wasting my time and sharing personal information. If you don’t have a lucrative case, don’t waste your time with this firm.

They didn't go to bat for my family on the crestwood water case. They settled for millions & offered us less than $800 total. No amount of money will allow me to live my life after what my family and I have gone through but $800?! That's a slap to the face! Update: my mother passed away due to our case & that's still all we were offered.
