I edited this 8 months after they claim they didn't represent me. They are correct, they took my money and did nothing, no representation....good call guys! An absolute joke......truly. I'm happy for the people that had a good experience with these guys, but they were unbelievably incompetent in handling my case. Read the letter I recently wrote them.....when one has to write the judge for leniency concerning the failure of their legal representation it's a sad day. If you need an estate settled, avoid these guys like the plague. The only case I can see for hiring them is if one likes being ignored and horrible outcomes. I really hope they respond to this claiming they did their due diligence. I've done more work in a hammock after drinking a case of beer than these guys did for me. That's a fact! I am writing concerning the estate you handled for me up until November of 2017. The case was the estate of my mother Carolyn Keefe. I was left with no choice other than dropping your Law firm after dealing with Richard Pettys for 9 months. In that time period the only thing your firm accomplished was filing paperwork late and an initial consult. After working with another legal team since last November, I am finally in the final process of being named executor by the Cherokee probate court. Besides many additional legal fees over the last eight months, I also barely saved my mother’s condo from the jaws of potentially illegal foreclosure. Appointed County Administrator William E. Whitaker thankfully helped me dodge that bullet. Because Mr. Pettys failed to file paperwork on time, I also almost lost the condo to a family member not named in the will. Thankfully she had no funds to front the required bond. I have incurred total costs over $15,000 to keep my botched case alive. Mr. Pettys had led me to believe for months that my case was in good hands when it was not. Included is a photo of an email Mr. Pettys sent me right before I dropped your firm. In his email Mr. Pettys told me plainly that a photocopy of the original will I had could not be accepted in probate. Along with many other missteps, this was incorrect. I have also included the letter I wrote to Judge Wood explaining why I missed a deadline and had lost faith in my legal representation. There is also a copy of my letter asking for release from your firm and particularly Glen Johnson as my attorney. Lastly is a copy of my initial receipt of payment to your firm for $1,970. After consulting with a local malpractice attorney in your area at the behest of other counsel, I have been informed that although I have a good case, the monetary value of any possible settlement would be nullified by their fees. This isn’t to say I’m not considering it. It has also been brought to my attention that a grievance with the Georgia State Bar could be a possible last ditch maneuver. I am again asking for a partial or total refund of my initial fees. There was no service of value rendered and just as at any decent University, late work doesn’t count in a court of law. Thank you for your consideration and I hope this will be solved civilly.
If you want an attorney that also has a heart, & understands life situations, then this is the attorney for you. He helped to bring healing to myself & my family after devastation for years. This firm is like family. John Edwards made an impossible victory happen. He changed mine & my children's lives for the better, & that is priceless.
It is actually a nice place and he is a nice lawyer even knowing he was the father of my child's lawyer. The staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable. The mediator was very nice and I am thankful she was there.
I have never hired an attorney in the past. I retained Mr. Edwards' services on a recommendation of a friend in what became a 'messy' divorce with a lot of different issues at stake. Mr. Edwards and his team listened thoughtfully as to what I wanted from the divorce. What I wanted was a fair and equitable settlement and my spouse and I as equal partners as parents. The team never lost sight of that goal. It took a long time and was an expensive journey, however having Mr. Edwards as a partner with me in this was instrumental in us arriving at the settlement we achieved. I consider Mr. Edwards and his team as friends now. Not only did they help me achieve the most optimal legal outcome for me, but they were not only legal counsel but understood the emotional component of dividing a family. They were advocates for their client while recognizing that everyone in this are human beings and not just a payday. With the addition of Ms. Sanchez-Curtis to the team this Firm has really upped their game. I only interacted with her briefly but agree with the reviews of her on here.
Elena Sánchez-Curtis is a tremendous problem solver. Her persistence and people skills resolved my issues. This is the second time I have used her as my attorney and both cases turned out better than I had expected. I would highly recommend!
