I am the owner and broker-in-charge of Do Good Real Estate in Wilmington, North Carolina. I listed a property for sale and a cooperating buyer's agent produced a buyer resulting in a settlement of the home. However, there was a dispute over the commission and Eugene's office did nothing to mediate the dispute, which meant neither broker got paid at closing. I've done a lot of deals in my 7+ years in business and I would NEVER do a closing at this office again. I like helping others buy and sell homes, but I also like getting paid for my work. It's ridiculous that this office gives the seller an option to not pay a commission, simply because they don't want to. U0001f44e

Cheated out of a commission at closing. Ouch! I don't know if that is illegal, but definitely a bad business decision for a real estate attorney. I wouldn't do a closing there either.
