I thought Virginia laws (regarding family law) were outdated; two of the family law attorneys I spoke to at this firm didn’t even know what ethical non-monogamy was. My conversations with them were very disappointing. Mia Benson has been great so far.
I was a client for my divorce, through Legal Shield. It is nearly impossible to get a phone call returned. They'll email days later but will not pick up the phone no matter how many times you call and email begging for someone to actually speak to you. I've been working on my divorce paperwork since October 2023. I've spoken to my actual attorney only twice. I'm currently on the phone trying to yet again get someone to actually talk to me. Since no one bothered to talk to me before sending off the final paperwork there are errors on it. Hopefully this won't hold things up further but I won't know because no one will talk to me. I would not recommend this firm at all. Update: I spent more than 20 minutes on hold just to be hung up on. It is now after 5pm so I cannot get through to anyone else.
I just had a call with Ryan Hershey about a trademark application that got rejected. Ryan stated that he agreed with the rejection . When I asked what adjustments I could make to get it approved he suggested I not move forward with the trademark. I even asked for examples so I could get some type of insight how I could go about making adjustments for an appeal. He said he can't give hypotheticals. Then I asked using an example with an existing company to get insight. He said that example wouldn't work. Here I am playing "cat and mouse" for insight during a consultation. I finally asked at one point about his background and why he didn't suggest a referal with a specialist (trademark) instead of suggesting I not move forward at all. He said state law doesn't allow them to state specializations instead of answering the question. I finally asked for the managing attorney's information and Ryan said with a shakey voice "are you going to file a complaint?" He then proceeded to quickly back peddle stating he never suggested I not move forward w the appeal or trademark, started playing technicalities with words, said he'd pass it on to someone else, and continued to try and end the call. This was all in about 10 mins. Half in which I spent trying to get insight. He said Rebecca Carter was his managing attornery. I found that Jason Solomon is also over the Legal Shield Department as well. This was unacceptable and it was clear Ryan lack of competence and care for the matter resulted in a premature and negligent suggestion. The first time he called he said my paperwork wasn't included and rescheduled. He didn't even use that call to get insight into the matter. So this was a call back. Both times he rushed the call. Now I'm wasting more time on a matter that could have been dealt with efficiently had the lawyer been competent and professional. Not to mention, I'm paying 100% of a monthly fee for 25% customer service from this firm that is touch and go. The quality of service varies greatly depending on who you get.
I was referred to this law firm by legal shield. The attorney I spoke to was Gerry Keipert. The phone call was short. I had already read the reviews so I was not surprised by the interaction, but my monthly fee had already been deducted so I thought I would give it a go. He clearly didn't know anything about my case, and was only responding to notes someone else had written without actually confirming anything with me. He was immediately negative, and started informing me that he could possibly write a letter for me but that it was "futile" because I don't know why..he didn't actually know any of the details about my case and didn't ask. I already knew that legal shield attorneys do not go court, but provide information- which is what I needed...I needed help filling out and filing paperwork. He told me there is no template I could follow. So I asked him how do I fill it out and he told me to "go to law school" and learn how to do it. I did not respond and I ended the call. I am surprised that someone who graduated from law school in 1980 would be so unprofessional, doesn't seem like a difficult question for someone with so much experience. This behavior is either due to laziness or dissatisfaction with your job or more likely a combination. If you don't like your job, go do something else. Don't take it out on everyone else. I wish I would have had this experience before I paid for another month. Do better. I am done with legal shield.
Got a LegalShield Membership and was assigned to them. I called and was advised that I would receive a call back within 4 business hours. It’s has been 8 business days and I have yet to receive a call back. Will not be continuing my membership.
